It belongs under the scuttle beside wiper linkage.

That picture is the resistor pack, not the TCI isn't it?

Yes, that is the resistor pack for the original Hitachi ball-type fuel injectors, under the scuttle. No idea what TCI might mean.

Question for Alex: Are you trying to get spark to your "no start" situation by swapping out some component?

As above - it is nothing more than a resistor pack I think the term TCI may have come from an eBay advert Ive seen where someone has listed the resistor pack as a 'TCI control unit' and tried to sell it for £60.

Spoke to a S2 Forum member that lives close to me, and after a bit of troubleshooting, he said that part might not get any power. I have the replacement part but i would like to check it first before swaping things. If that isn't a issue im going to check the codes.

....but that part is the connected to the injectors, and has nothing to do with the ignition system?

Yeah, not sure what your forum member friend thinks that part is but I can assure you it is nothing more than 5 resistors in a heat sink. There is one wire to each injector and one earth wire. It doesn't really perform any function that needs a power supply, (this might be why you can't find one) power passes through it on its way to the injectors but that is it. You don't even need one to make a spark - the bosch injector upgrade does away with it anyway!

You need to look elsewhere for causes of your lack of spark. Start with fault codes but I would also be thinking about whether your timing marks still line up when you set number 1 piston to top dead centre.

I read in the other thread you started that trouble began after you gave the engine a good thrashing... Its a long shot but a poorly installed cam or crank sprocket may have moved.

If the engine's been thrashed, I'd check the distributor drive gear

                    Mike,

Re: Distributor drive gear, I'd agree except Alex mentioned in his previous thread that he has already swapped-out distributors.

                    Alex,

Steve is correct in that you may "need to look elsewhere for causes of your lack of spark." While it may be true that this resistor pack is not getting power, that you also have no spark, in conjunction with that you may have no fuel, means that this too is likely but symptom and not cause.

I'm going to go back to your previous thread and link you to an old article which may help with your trouble-shooting.

Without checking the workings of the ECU, there may never be any power supplied to the resistors, until a crank signal is detected, in which case this is erroneous! Injectors are not fired unless the engine is turning as part of the safety measures in place to prevent fire.

Better to fix the spark, there is no such safety feature there, get it done and it will probably be fixed.
