New member buying S2 avant

Hi all, im new here and im looking at an S2 avant tomorrow.

Any obvious problems to look for??

i here brakes can be a little weak, how about body/chassis??

how well do they handle high mileage with good service history??

its a 6 speed, how much of a difference does it make?? i have a passat TDi at the moment as well with a 5speed box and after driving my dads 6 speed Tdi it really is worth while.

Definitely do some searches in the main forums, as this question has been asked & answered so many times. s2-audi.co.uk and s2central.net are great places to start too! Oh I remember those days of wondering what to look for in an S2... and probably still wouldn't know quite where to start

Also check the for sale classified for Avants popping up for sale

MattS2 will tell you there are bargains to be had.

Batty has a white Avant for sale which is pretty mint, although i believe another member is eyeing it up.

Might be worth a private message to Batty.

My advice would be to look out for the seller.
If you get lucky (like I did) then they will be 100% honest and point out even the smallest faults.
It's something that has only happened to me once though and I think quite rare.
