on the lookout for an s2

Hi everyone, i'm new to this forum and basically I'm in the market for an s2 any advice would be welcome. I used to own a 2.8e quattro coupe until it got smashed by a stolen merc! Anyone got one for sale let me know. Ideally I'm after one that is not red or white, leather interior pref, and under 100k would be nice. I have heard that the engines begin to kick in around 100k if looked after but under 100k is what i'm looking for. I dont mind if it has been modified (270 BHP is the first step I understand?), or standard but upgraded brakes would be pref too as well as a half decent cd player!
Anyone that wants to give me advice at what things to look out for when buying i.e wishbone wear, etc would be welcome. My budget is 5,000 to 6,000 and L reg or later pref but will go earlier if good example.

parts bin lottery i bet.....a fair few S2's had had alsorts bolted on which wouldn't normally appear or be out of date.

Yep like Jim's old car had the 'wrong' sunroof and weird (but sexy) half alcantara seats that were presumably an odd option on the Coupe or Cabrio.

However - it would be worth a moment with a screwdriver to remove those indis and look for a date stamp that would tell you a lot !

Thanks guys for giving me the links to S2's for sale. I've already spoke with the guy on autotrader, the brakes are not upgraded and i've been told that this is essential for an S2 and would cost around 400-500 pound?

Yeah thats right look for BRY or COREY on the members list they will help you with all the parts you need for upgrading the brakes also do a search on brakes and see what other people have done and are in the process in doing good luck with the car on autotrader looks really nice

Cheers baltiboy, that s2 does does look very nice but i might be patient to see if one comes up at well around 100k and that has upgraded brakes already and maybe nicer alloys, not too keen on the wheels on that one, so if i bought at around 5500, i 'd have to spend at least 800-1000 for brake upgrade and wheels, so i might wait to see if one turns up with those specs already done. I used to have a 2.8e coupe, it was a great example until it got smashed up by a stolen merc! I'll send u the pics of it if u like, what is an s2 like to drive, say compared with an m3 for example of around the same age? I wouldnt know as have never driven an s2 but i guess i had the 2nd most powerful coupe in the 2.8 and that was superb. Let me know

evening all
perhaps not strictly on topic but my S2 is for sale from weds onwards. Bought on a bit of a whim its now one of 4 cars in the household (Golf gt tdi, mx5 and mini) and doesn't get driven as its the thirstiest.

offers around the £4k mark quite acceptable
