    New Member!

    Hello all! Loving the Forum!!

Been the proud owner of my VW Corrado for the past 12 months, And a member of the Corrado Forum, which I only wish i'd found before I bought mine!

Thinking of getiing myself an S2 Coupe (really wanting some 4x4 action) in the near future, so I might be found lurking around looking for info on various stuff! Hopefully learning enough to make an informed purchase when i do decide to take the plunge, (wish i'd done that with the Corrado) and save money in the long run.

Reading up on here, they seem to be money-eating beasts, how would they compare to owning a Corrado? Any other Corrado & S2 owners on here?

What are the top points to consider when buying?

    Cheers!!!

Loads of old and young ex vee dubbers on here, seems a bit of a natural progression. Check out the S2 Central buyers guide and spend some time reading through the posts and threads on here, youl soon get the idea re probs that can rear their ugly heads and cost you an arm and a leg. Coupe or the avant? (avants are the best ) A few available at the mo on here and pistonheads etc. Oh yeh, dont be affaid to ask if you dont know or cant find info, theres quite a few`old pros`on here, but thats a different story When you get one running right theyre amazing machines, thats half the battle though

Cheers Greg! The Corrado has been fantastic all in all, its a totally factory spec Tornado Red 1990 16v. Always loved the Corrado so jumped at the chance when i found a good one.

Lacks a little in power is the biggest fault, but you can really throw it around when you're in the mood, and it just sticks. excellent chassis!

Looking for more power in the near future, but really want turbo'd 4x4, and the S2's seem to be around the same price as a decent VR, so i'm thinking, why not??

                  Matt.

I had red 16v one for about a year before getting the S2 and still have a soft spot for them.

As for the comparison between the two..............
Quite different beasts in my eyes.
More power, grip, comfort and potential in the S2. (Plus it's in a different league for build quality)

The downside of all this is the cost, I would say more than VR6 Corrado, easily.

Best advice I can give is to take one out for a drive.........That will make your mind up instantly.

Also worth noting that I found the headroom in the S2 coupe to be a bit tight, so if you're on the taller side it'll be like.....
                  Get an avant

You lose several inches of headroom due to the factory sunroof, which nearly all UK cars had (although most deny it, I have seen the odd S2 without a sunroof).

I'm 6'2" and I am Ok and a mate is 6'4" and he is fine in his CQ, but we have the seat at the lowest position (actually if anything my RS2 seats are higher than the standardS2 seats). My only problem is when wearing a skid-lid for track sessions.

As Matt said....best way is to drive one

                      Cheers n

                      Si

P.S. I have often wondered about lowering the seats by cutting 1/2 way through the rear legs, bending them up and then welding them back up

I'm 6'2" and felt there wasn't quite enough headroom in the coupe, the sunroof being the main culprit.
We all have slightly different seating positions though.
There was plenty of room in the Corrado.

At 6'7" I would have thought the Corrado was tight.
