Hi from Oxfordshire/Berkshire. I used to run B3, B4 and B5 Audis from new back in the 80s and 90s going through 80 1.8S, 90 2.2E, 90 2..2 quattro, 90 2.3E, 90 20V, Coupe 2.0E, Coupe quattro, Coupe S2, Cabriolet 3.0, Cabriolet S4 then A4 1.8T Sport, A5 and an A7 which was my last new car and had way too many things I didn't need and never used (but still better than touchscreens and silent power of today). Best of the lot were the 90 20V and the S2. I have for many years owned a 1987 90 2.2E quattro with a mere 15K miles on the clock which obviously does not get used much but have for a long time hankered after another S2 which I would be happy to use as a (nice day) daily. It had to be an ABY model and as standard as possible as I did not want to try and second guess previous mods to the car. The B5NUT car fitted the bill nicely and a deal was done. Not great timing as I am in the middle of a building refurbishment but it was the first S2 I had seen for a while which ticked most of the boxes. However like busses when one comes along so then does another. So in the space of a week I purchased two ABY S2 Coupes! Glutton for punishment or genius move? We shall see and I will report in and have loads of questions I am sure.

Great to have you in the fold. Post us a few pictures when you get the chance. I drive my S2ABY daily and I’m convinced they give fewer problems started and driven every day. Always keeping meticulously within the official speed limit, of course!1996 S2 ABY Coupe silver

Thanks, the B5NUT Emerald Green car is well documented on here. The other is a Tropical Green example. The Emerald Green car is pretty much good to go, though both cars need a new battery (Bosch S5 007s going in tomorrow), both boots leak (of course - primarily from four the trim strip screws, often missed in the search of water ingress), AC does not work on either car (likely the same pipe on both) and both gearshifts could be better I think (looking for the parts to address this in the shifter). You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Fantastic stuff, an ‘instant collection’. There’s a few of us still mad enough to daily S2’s… This is ours last week 130 miles from home in Chippenham. It’s not impossible to daily them, but it does take commitment. Totally agree with 4WDrifter, using the drives in reliability.

They also get a lot of attention these days as well.85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep

I also drive mine, not daily but every week for 400 Km plus and it is still going strong with more than 450.000Km on the clock!Comment

Might not be crazy in long run. I met a guy who bought a road going sport quattro because, like me and many others, he just liked the shape and look of them. This was back when they still weren’t crazy money. Then a second opportunity to buy came up and he bought it too and then a third came along! It was a jaw dropping experience to walk into his barn!Last edited by 4WDrifter; 12 October 2024, 12:51.1996 S2 ABY Coupe silver

Welcome to the forum. Is it the gear linkage bushes that you are tracking down? I still have mine to fit but purchased some replacement 3d printed ones from a forum member a long while back. Interested to know what is involved in fitting the gear linkage bushesGreg

I have not researched enough to know what parts I need but yes I would assume the bushes yes. Hopefully they are replaceable from above - any guidance gratefully received. Neither of my cars is bad enough to make this a priority issue for now.Comment
