    Welcome Erenci1764

Erenci1764 Sent a message to the forum admins. I have added here, welcome to the forum.

    Hello Greg,

I was surprised and respected by your interest in new members. I have a long story, and it requires patience to listen. I'm 62 years old, but if you ask my heart, I'm 25. ☺️

In 1981, I was an economics student. I met Renç Koçibey, a veteran rally driver, in Bursa. He was a true mentor. Talking about race safety was ridiculous back then. I was young and fearless. I finished first three times and second six times in the regional amateur Turkish rallies I participated in. And I won countless stage victories. I had a fantastic two years. ?

In 1983, I was accepted to Diyarbakır Faculty of Law in southeastern Türkiye. I still practice law. Diyarbakır was remote, and I lost touch with the rally community. These were the years without cell phones or internet. I had a tremendous thirst for knowledge about automobile engines and mechanics. I was a law student, but I was better known in the Mechanical Engineering faculty. ?

After graduating from university, I moved to Antalya. I built and contributed to the construction of many project vehicles. 2JZ, 4G63, RB26, SR20DET, etc. I respected Audi, but I didn't find them sporty. That is, until I bought a Lotus Esprit S4s. Isn't it difficult to establish a connection between Lotus and Audi? ?

Cosmetically, it was perfect, but the engine was seriously broken. A new engine would have cost a fortune, and the transmission from the Renault 21 turbo was incredibly fragile. I decided to modify it, and 15 years ago, due to traffic and inspection regulations, I started searching for a 2.2-liter engine and a powerful transmission. The Honda AP2 2.2 was great, but it wasn't available in Türkiye. Then I found an Audi 200 TQ Avant (3B) in Ankara and bought it. Cosmetically, it was in terrible condition; it had been sitting in a customs warehouse for nine years. But it was still running. I didn't tow it to Antalya, but I drove it to see how the car performed, and that's when the love affair began. ?

Despite its miserable condition, it was like a train on rails; I was in awe. I sold the Lotus but I still have it in perfect condition..later I bought 6 more Audis, all of them Quattro? 2 x Audi 200 sedan, Audi 100 and Audi 90 CQ (7A) which is rare in Türkiye.. I care about it very much. It will be my 5th biggest personal project and a masterpiece of the period. No hesitation about the transmission 01E..

However, I had a lot of doubts about the engine due to the stock I had. A 7A turbo conversion is certainly possible, but 83mm is risky. I have 2x 3B, 3x2.7t (RS4), 07K and RS3 (CEPA), and 2.5 tdi blocks in stock. After 2-3 years of bench work, I decided to go with the 82mm reamed 2.5 diesel block. I had no room for error. Your forum was very helpful during my research. I especially appreciate the posts made by our friend "pisobiker" in 2005. ? I wonder what he's using now.

My English is bad, so forgive me if Google Translate made any mistakes. Thank you for your patience. ?It was like a Sunday therapy session for me too.

    Regards.

That’s quite a project to take on and i can certainly see the appeal with the Lotus. Have you completed a 2.5T stroker build using the diesel block instead?

I haven’t seen Pisobiker on the forum for sometime, but I’m sure they’d appreciate the mention.
