  • New S2 Avant owner - looking for good independent specialist

    Guys

I have just purchased an S2 Avant (1995 ABY model). High mileage and previously subject to a Cat D insurance claim. Seems to have been put back together properly when it was done and also appears to have been well looked after since. Repaired, supplied and maintained by Audi Dave in Chesterfield.

First task is to check and adjust the geometry however the rear suspension arms are knackered and both arms and bushes need replacing before I can geo the car.

Can anyone point me towards a good independent in the Tring (Herts) or Aylesbury (Bucks) area.

Is there any sensible upgrade that I should consider at the same time? I would probably replace the bushes with Powerflex bushes as a matter of course.

Future upgrades will probably include putting Porsche braking system upgrade as I work as sales director at a small Independent Porsche specialist near Tring.

I have been on and off the forum over the last few weeks and look forward to contributing more as time permits.

    Regards

    Darren

No problem with doing discounts for forum members.

Any thoughts on good Indies down this neck of the woods. We have a backlog of Porsche servicing and repair work so will need to outsource some of the work initially to get car together as fast support vehicle for Le Mans trip.

Was that a result of it being repaired, supplied and maintained by Audi Dave?

Def do the 996 monoblock upgrade before any other mods and whilst you are doing suspension bushes I would change the top mounts. If you are planning on keeping the car, then think about pro mounts from Corey, rather than just rubber mounts.

            Cheers n

P.S. Sounds like we have a potential supplier of Textar pads etc guys

Audi Dave maintained the car, it had a front ender and was Cat D total loss. Repaired by Audi Dave and sold to current owner (now previous owner). He maintained car with Audi Dave for last four years. I take it from comments that Audi Dave is not a preferred independent on this forum.

                  Another welcome Darren

To answer the main question, go to MRC Tuning in Banbury (www.mrctuning.com), not too far from you and well worth the drive IMHO

Would the independent Porsche garage be J Z Maztech by any chance ???

As for independent Audi Garage if Oxford is not too far then try Autotechnic I used them for years when I lived in the area both for my Coupe and my S2
