Hi im deano, have just got myself a 1993 2.0 16v coupe. Quite happy with the car so far apart from performance but i wasnt expecting it to be fast so it doesnt matter, Sounds like a hurricane blowing through the N/S window when its up and the Erratic idle/Cutting out. Im hopeing these are easy fixes lol
I will put some pictures up when i have cleaned it
Often the air noise at speed is worse from the drivers door, as it is caused by the hinges dropping (obviously the drivers door suffers through more use). It is 'simply' a matter of adjusting the hinges, which have hex key heads in the bolts to realign the door.
I say simply as of course it is a bit of a fine art, but makes a huge difference when finished Search on here or the web and you should find a good explanation of which adjusters move the door in which direction.
The ISV is def the first line of attack for a hot idling problem...makes a world of difference. If the revs plummet ( and sometimes stall) when you dip the clutch, rather than slowly dropping to a stable 850rpm, then that is the ISV for sure.
As for the speed....sorry, no fix for that, it is a serious piece of heavy German engineering (even the body panels are thicker than most cars) and that engine is just not up to the job. Run the car for a while and if you if you are hooked, work up through the V6 quattro and then get an S2...soon you'll be running near to 400 BHP and looking for more
Cheers n

Welcome Deano,im fairly new the the forum as well!
Si is spot on, thats exactly the route I did with Audi Coupe's, started with 2.0 (R.I.P), now 2.8 Quattro, and currently looking for S2. Got a 400+bhp tweaked M5 and have had silly 911's but there is just something about the Coupe's...love em and will always have one..
I found this pic of my old 2.0 just before i sold it, as you can prob see, some **** cut me up at roundabout, just after I put the S2 bumber on as well...
Ah I remember seeing a picture of it before did you have it up for sale on ebay by any chance just I remember the damage to the wing and the wheels stood out.
Yeah, thats the one, you've got good memory, that was couple of years back now...
Was gutted, went for just over £500.00, i didnt need it anymore but someone got a right bargain..
yeah I remembered looking at it because apart from the small knock on the wing it looked good and the wheels set it off, nice background in the picture as well. Pity that it went for just that but if it means it got you hooked with audis it can't be all bad
I had 2 sets of those wheels actually, proper b'stards to get hold of - League 081's they were called. Was a lacquer problem on the dish tho, kept going all corroded and flaking off. I reckon it was a mixture of crap weather and cat p*ss!!
