I think it's fair to say that any purchase of a machine that has been involved in competition will involve seeing and buying a car that's been damaged. In some respects, it defeats the purpose of building or owning a car like that (for hillclimbs) if the limits are always avoided. As volcano said above, as long as it's fixed properly, then, no problems.
Price wise, the 'value' of the car, being a replica, is an interesting one. I'd probably look at the car in an 'upside-down' way to find out it's potential value. This being the quality of the components, (genuine sport prop, lightweight/aluminium/rally components, Fibreglass, Carbon or Kevlar panels, homologated cage /safety equipment etc) rather than the interesting little crease in the 'C' pillar window trim.
If possible, do a painfully time consuming search (or better still, talk to someone with another SWB used for competition) and get an idea to the sum total of the parts. This should comfortably be over the asking price, but will also give you a good idea at what level your potential car is at in the 'replica' stakes.
Finally, I'd look at your needs, will a 500bhp missile be the Christmas present to end all Christmas presents or, the Christmas present that ends all Christmas presents...?
Years ago ABT had an Audi 90 quattro with 500+bhp, carbon etc and road legal, the guy who had them make it spent many thousands of DM... Drove it once, nearly killed himself, and handed it back to ABT.... A car beyond the man's abilities.
Whichever route you choose, good luck, and, be prepared... Unless experienced in Very High Performance cars on the public highway it will catch the unwary out.
