    Yet another...

...Hi all, yet another newbie to add to the numbers!...Anyways a brief introduction, My names John, I'm 21 and from wigan originally...but live out near southport at the minute (If theres any northerners who understand where these places are!)

At present I'm a third year Automotive Design student at Coventry University and currently drive a 1998 MK3 VW Golf VR6 Highline. Hopefully, come Novemeber when my no-claims discount comes in, I'll be in the market for a S2, I have loved these cars for so long and never actually thought of owning one any time soon, until a bored afternoon and the internet trawling Insurance companies changed my mind. A bit more internet trawling and I came across this site, so thought I'd join up and read up on them first.

So if anyone has any friendly advice on what to look for, experiences etc it'd be much appreciated!

    Thanks for looking...

    John.

I purchased an S2 for partly the same reason - good performance with an understated car at a relatively cheap insurance premium and priced well!

Get an S2 - then you'd be the only other active person on the forum within an hour and a half of me!!

        Welcome

There is hours and hours worth of reading on the forum, which can give you an insight to the mods/potential of the S2
I joined up a while before I got mine, and by the time I did, I had already got a decent background of them. Its well worth spending the time doing some homework, as it is also invaluable when it comes to finding one worth buying

Cheers for the welcome guys, been doing a bit of reading up already! More worryingly I've already got a list of plans drawn up what I'd do to one if/ when I buy it!

Had a bit of a flick through some of the PistonHeads pages and theres a few quotes on there reporting how easibly tuneable the engine and how readily available parts are...had a route through the mighty google and couldn't find much and most of the parts suppliers I use for my golf don't stock or accomodate for older Audis....any recommendation on who to use?

            Vagparts or the forum.

Vagparts can get hold of just about's anything OEM you need, but at a cost. You can modify using brand spanking new parts, but you'll spend a fortune!

Members of the forum tend to hold stockpiles of various parts or if not can generally point you in the right direction of where to find them.

Staveley? No way... Thats a few miles down the road and i pass it every other day on the way to Windermere! Im based just outside Milnthorpe.

We're certainly a little bit away from the general community of s2's - the closest "S2 meet" i've been to is Billing or GTI International. Both about 170 miles away at the end of the M6
