Get out there and look at as many as you can. You soon start to get an idea of what is good and what is not.
    Agreed.

Have a read of my project thread, its a good example of what happens when you buy a totally standard one with alot of problems, and what you can end up with!

Thanks dest. Your thread was a good read. If you dont mind me asking what did you spend on the car inc mods?
          Is it still for sale?

Good luck with the search... FWIW - I advise you to find the best car for your money... Yes there are some cheap ones around, but that can be false economy unless you have some radical plans for a project car... For example if you feel the need to paint it luminescent brown then you won't be worrying about getting one with immaculate point... if that makes sense.

Plan to copy as much of the buyers guide as possible to take with me when looking for my car. Thanks for the helpfull tip.
Cant seem to find many s2's about. Would prefer the coupe but wouldnt mind having an avant. Just need to have a 5cyl as quickly as possible

I paid £3800 for the car, then spent about 3k on it at a guess, probably more but I dare not add it up :mischeif:
It sold within 5 days of advertising it!

Im 21 and based in the north west also. I have just re-insured mine with 3 years NCB through adrian flux, with mods apparently covered, for £936/year.

I first got insured at 19 though elephant, who were the only people to touch me, for £1900/year.

It's a good car from what I've seen of it, can't comment on the mechanics as I never got to see under the bonnet.

Certainly a high spec and the arches are a one off!
