    90q > Rs2 Gt35r

First of all, I would like to thank S2Forum & all of you guys!!

The past year or so I've been collecting alot of information from this forum to help me finish my project. The time has come for me to share with you my project that you all helped me complete.

My name is Niko and I live in Greece. I have a 90Q. 2 years ago I bought an RS2 that had rolled & we tried to keep it alive but it was impossible....there was too much damage to the frame. I donated all it's parts to my 90Q & so my project began. Trying to keep a low budget conversion, it took me about 2 years with alot of home made parts & personal labor.

The result of this is a 90Q with a ADU engine & tranny, motronic ECU, Wagner intake & exhaust (tubular) manifolds, GT35R, 90mm downpipe, Blitz intercooler, Siemens Deka630CC injectors, 044 fuel pump, rear diff torsen from D11 & hydraulic handbrake, big reds 322x32, stock springs with bilstein, stock pistons & stock rods (hey, guys, I can hear you). Yes, I know that's the scary part. The hardest thing was the tuning. To keep the torque down was difficult because the tuner couldn't adjust the boost on the motronic. So, the tuning was done with the N75 unplugged & with some washers on top of the spring in the waistegate...do you believe it??? The only thing he could do was fuel & timing. I still have to install a boost control & go back for more tuning.

One other thing, when the car reaches between 270-280km, it shuts down like the ignition was turned off. Any ideas on what it could be???

Anyway, that is pretty much for now. I am posting the dyno run...........

Was that on a hub dyno?
use a manual boost controller instead of fiddling with the WG. Set base boost at 1bar with the WG and the rest with the controller.

Edit: I see now that it was a Rototest, so numbers are at the hubs.
Hard to say what that translates to. R35 and 911TT pull 460 at the hubs, and they have "480" at the flywheel.
460NM at the hubs is nothing to be afraid of, as long as you have good gas, especially at 4700rpm, less chance of det and lots of inertia from the pistons at that rpm.

            geia sou Niko!

pm me i can see what i can do to help!
nice project but the tuner you have gone to,i know him, although he has lots of experience,he doesnt have the equimment to properlly tune the motronic.
Also it would be very difficult almost impossible to have the GT35 with the motronic because of the MAF restriction.
He has tuned and has been tuning another RS2 engined audi 80 with GT35 but with haltech ECU.

              that was a rototest dyno.

i had done the same dyno there when i got 335whp with 1.5bar

I know Vasili you told me back then. There was a misunderstanding between me & him. When I spoke to him over the phone I thought he understood what I wanted done but when I went there, it was a different story. Anyway, I'm going to install the boost control & I will go again.

Around 4000rpm 1.3bar and after 6000rpm it goes 1.6bar. I'm not sure why. Could it be a small wg?

well, the wastegate, seems to be acting like that when the spring is manipulated and pressed.

The way i think about it is that as the spring is shortened,at the initial rpms it presents a certain amount of stress, which in your case is the 1.3 bar until the 4000rpm.
As the revs build up and the exhaust gasses are forcing the spring open,it gets more stressed, the spring gets even more compressed and therefore more boost is expressed to 1.6bar.

i get something similar on mech.boost on mine now that i have shortened the spring quite a bit, where i get 0.5bar on initial revs and as i pass 5000rpm i get up to 1.2bar of mechanical boost, whereas if i have a stiffer spring in there,i get 1bar in all revs without change.

So, the cutting off between 270-280km will be the speed limiter?
Any ideas on how I can deactivate it or by pass it?? Thanks!

it needs someone that can log into the motronic to do that.If that is located in the boost eprom rather than the fuel/ignition eprom maybe that is why the tuner cannot deactivate it.
