    Hi all

In a speed dating style, hi, im chris, im 21 and from falmouth in cornwall.

ive just bought my first s2 (on a bit of a whim lol) and quite frankly, im loving it

Shes a dark bluey black '93 avant with s4 wheels. Totally standard apart from a dump valve as far as i can make out. Epic mileage but drives really well.

so yeah, hello! look forward to some advice which im sure i'll need, and hopefully get to meet a few of you at some point

Welcome to the forum - I've found this place to be invaluable when it comes to finding out about these cars, as there's so many knowledgable folk out there who are all too willing to help out! There's a few S2 & RS2 owners in the Cornwall area so keep your eyes peeled for them

Has it had an aftermarket dump value fitted? I only ask as they came standard with a waste gate which is next to the airbox and the inlet pipe to the engine, just above the turbo! It looks like a baby Darlek from Dr.Who lol

        Welcome Chris,

Only wish I'd discovered S2s when I was 21. So no problems for you on that front.

Enjoy the car and the forum.

        Kind regards.

Cheers guys, been out in it most of today again, cant stop taking it for a blast lol!

Key walshe - im not sure tbh, it sounds more wastegate chirpy than brap dump valve, but there is an anodised blue forge looking arrangement sitting to the right of my turbo. Not too hot on turbo workings, first turbo'd car ive driven.

David - i like to think ive had a good run in the cr stakes for a 21 year old, had mostly mk2 golf and jetta gtis, a mini, and last car which im currently selling is a corrado g60 with chip, pulley, fmic and newman cam. Its all about the old skool german muscle

Must meet for sure! i met james with the silver rs2 randomly the other day, pulled infront of me at vospers roundabout in falmouth ansd stopped for a chat.

Cars in RK tommorow for a cambelt / waterpump etc, should be wallet crippling!

                Welcome

If its blue and anodised then for sure it isn't standard so does sound like a forge dump (well recirculating i'm guessing from its standard location at least)

Whats the mileage outta interest, these babies will just keep going if they have been nurtured a bit - get used to the smell of burning plastic, your credit cards will take a hammering one way or the other but its all worth it when the 5 pot sings

                  welcome

dump valve isn't standard but the wastegate is for sure. just to clear up that bit of confusion the wastegate dumps off exhaust gases to stabilize boost the dump vavle blows off excess boosted air to stop compressor stall. turbo cars in general have both a BOV and a wastegate.

The s2 has a compressor bypass valve (CBV) rather than a blowoff valve (BOV), which re-circulated the air back into the "system" rather than dumping it to atmosphere.

The s2 doesnt have a dump valve, but you can find its definition here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dump_valve

s2driver - its currently 186k, feels alot less though. Hopefully it wont burn too much money, but i dont mind spending a bit and getting my hands dirty if its all worth it in the end.

cheers for the info above guys, most helpful. loving all the info a look around this forum brings up. Although i was happy with standard bits until i started reading about rs2 turbos and manifolds lol
