its got the engine cover in the boot
My plans are really to get it looking mint again with everything working like it should do - gonna be a nice long project over time as i don't want to miss anything out

Hopefully once its finished and looking its best i can then start taking it to shows etc its going to be more of a show car than a daily runner and future classic if anything else

Welcome to the forum squire. North Yorks eh, whereabouts are you? I'm just outside Burnley. There is a V-Dub meet this coming Thursday at The Stone Trough near Kelbrook if you fancy a look over?

i'm near York mate - Car is currently not on the road as no mot or tax as yet
I'm starting work on it on sunday and then hopefully getting it mot'd next week then no doubt a list of bits needed will be heading to my local vw/audi guy for them get them done and all been well the car will be fully road legal by the weekend

It won't be making an appearance just yet as need to get it fully cleaned up and machine polished as the dark blue paintwork is very heavily swirled up

            Welcome,

Very nice spec, lovely sound from the V6. Different to the 5 cylinder, but just as nice.

Your idea to get it back to showroom is the right idea.

However, one suggestion is to consider changing the hubs to S2 - 5 x 112 from 4 x 108. This would allow you to fit Avus rims in sizes, 16", 17", or 18" or other 5 spoke alloys from A4s available in the breakers? Or a set of new replica RS6 rims?

Consider HIDs for the headlights and change them anyway to elopsoid headlights.

Depending on your driving style, your should be OK just to flush the brakes with new fluid and fit Ferodo 2500 pads in the front calipers. Change the rear ones to Mk 4 golf style calipers, if they are jamming or the handbrake is not to to the mark?

Obviously check rubber brake pipes and other things like CV boots etc.

Hopefully you can do the work yourself or have a good friend who can? These cars can be costly if they have to go to the garage everytime?

Get to know the car before going mad on it. Also ask someone whose familiar with S2s to drive it.

Probably too much advice too soon, , but enjoy the car and the forum nonetheless.

            Kind regards.

and snap...i got a 2.8cq too, its been a work horse for me for years but im starting to appriciate it as more of a classic now. Its a great lazy motor (not v tweakable tho!) and been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Coupe's also the best shape as well...

                    C4ddyman,

The S2 hubs you'd get second hand, and also the ellipsoid headlights, which are quite dear new and are on the later ABY / RS2 ones with the little circular magnifying lens inside them. Check the photos on Pistonheads.

Should do, but you will need a brake conversion pipe from the likes of C & R Enterprises. Not listed on their site, but phone them. Changes it from the brake pipe of male and female to a fuel type banjo bolt arrangement.

Don't be perturbed, all of this will become second nature as you become more familiar with this site and the car.

                    HTH, kind regards.
