    Finally took the plunge & bought 1

    Hi all. Been a member on here for a while and finally got round to buying a 1996 S6 on the weekend.

    One quick question for you all - my oil temp gauge doesn't go above the mark between 60 & 130, even on a 100 mile plus run, is this normal?

      Oil temp should be about 90 unless you are really thrashing it, or you have a blocked / malufunctioning oil cooler...

          i at present dont have the cooler and it still sits around 90. you want the oil to be up there in temp.

          the gauges are marked in the shittiest way though.
