    Re-introduction

Just thought i'd re-introduce myself as i have not posted a thread since April and even that was to say hello. I been lurking about though reading your posts, picking scraps of information but mostly i've been about on the quattroforum. Seen a few others on here and there too.

To recap I had two cars, a urq and an S2. Now 2 have become 1. The ur lives and the S2 gave up all its running gear for the cause. Yep, i plonked the 3B, subframes, suspension, 6spd etc all in my ur. Except the wiring, Tonksy wired it up for me a few week back.

So i guess i'll be floating about between here and the quatforum like a two-timing whore.

I've posted a picture of the ur for anyone that might be interested but wonder if its acceptable as strictly speaking it doesnt qualify as an S2 interest? I dont know, im sure you'll let me know.

    Regards, Grahame

URQ most definetly are part of S2 interest, afterall there probably wouldnt have been one without it. Was the conversion relatively painless on the UR?

Hi mate. Good to see you back here..... It's a more informative forum on this side... :mischeif:

Hope all is well with the car. Gaz's V8 project was on the cusp of firing last night. We got the wiring in for the engine and have started to wire up the fancy S6 clocks in aswell.

Is that Gaz who had the white urq with the 3b at combe, what made him change to the v8?

Yeah it weren't too bad. Hardest part was the gear linkage for the CGR 6spd. I had to fabricate a mix of S2 and ur, the hole in the ur tunnel was enlarged by a few mm on the right side of it due to the throw of the reverse gear but it works!

I had a custom braided clutch flexi made by Pirtek in Ipswich with a banjo to clear the swing of the gear linkage. It now exits the slave at 90*.

Tonksy encouraged me to transplant all the rest of the S2 running gear and swore that it would fit. He was right, it all just bolted up!

Hello bud. Car is good thanks to you AND Gaz . I was wondering how you were getting on with that. I was well tempted to stay another day and prep his motor for the V8. Felt bad driving away coz he'd worked really hard with you wiring the quat. Big respect for letting us use his garage.

Can't wait to see how it looks (and sounds), I can feel a road trip coming on to find out.

Yes it does. All of it. Even the boost gauge! Gaz and Brian did what they say on the Quattroforum could not be done without running your old ECU for the boost sender. The digi speedo works too but don't ask me how. Brian was a demon with the soldering iron pulling out wires here and there. Amazing.
