Are you going to change the engine? did you not want the quattro system?

Could be a nice car, if a little underpowered, perfect for a 1.8t conversion

Advice would be to stiffen the chassis as much as possible, the old coupe is a little soft.

      Have fun.

Golf boys use the bottom end but ditch head and cams as they're not as good as the KR stuff. No point carbing it without a lot of other toys but it'll sound lovely so who cares about being sensible...

Should be able to shed 150kg if you're feeling enthusiastic, will drop it to about 1100kg and make thing much better

Welcome Sounds like a fun little project

IMHO the first (free) mods as Rusty suggest is jettison as much weight as possible and stiffen up the chassis a bit by welding in a front and rear strut brace and some turret ---> firewall and tunnel braces - these coupes are unfortunately floppy old dogs at the best of times
If its going to be a "disposable" travck car and you have a fire extinguisher to hand stich weld as much of the chassis as you can get at
