    Hi there,
Just thought id join as ive hankered after a s2 for a while, ended up getting an evo for its ease of tuning and fun, but it left me somewhat peniless - engine went pop running 350 - those vi engines were good for 330 ish !

Anyway, just thought id join and have a look for some more info regarding the s2 and if anyones in my area and prepared to take me out to see what they feel like as standard then all the better. Got to be 100 % sure its the car for me before shelling out

    Cheers
    George

I'm in Bristol, if you fancy heading up this way I'll take you out in my 'standard' car

S2 can get to 280/90 quite easily, then with RS2 spec it'll do 350+ reliably. With some onternal mods the sky is the limit (depending on budget).

Don't expect the delicate, pointy handling of an Evo but do expect very effective and useable performance (with a little re-tuning of your brain an dexpectations).

Plenty of nice examples for sale at the mo for the £5-6k mark, won't need much doing to them.

Cheers for the info, yeah i was thinking of keeping it in the std 220 brake tune - got a 55 mile commute to do daily !

What sort of mpg could i expect on a run (mostly long straight a roads / mway from Bradford on avon > Swin.. High 20's ?

I may have to take you up on that..

      Cheers

25 ish. Depends on your level of self control.

Evedryone says they want to keep it stock... but they never do

Remap and exhaust are good mods and should improve FE too

25 ISH ! woah, I was looking at s3's but dont really like their image much and the 1.8 turbo engine clearly isnt as capable as an il5 - nor does it sound as good.. But 25 mpg, could get costly ! Maybe i need a 2ndary car, s2 for fun and diesel for commute..

S2s are cheap. Buy a £500 diesel banger and then play S2s. I run a BMW E30 318is, does 30+ with combined city and country driving, have known 40mpg on a cruise.

Yeah, considering we both park in the same area, it could be worth a try
