    Hi from a prospective buyer

Hi folks, I'm potentially looking at buying an S2 (I'll maybe start another thread on that later seeing as I'm after buying advice ).

I'm Lucas, 22, from Midlothian, Scotland. Currently I'm running around in a Mercedes S320 which is starting to feel quite cumbersome , it's comfy though! Before that I had a 190E 2.5-16 which some may approve of . Totally new to Audi's though!

      Hi Lucas,

      Welcome to the forum.
You'll find www.s2central.net a good source of info. Check out the buyer's guide on there in particular.

Hi, at the moment I'm choosing between a Mercedes E55 AMG and the S2. I can insure the '55 for under £1k which given my age I thought was reasonable (354BHP/170mph Delimited) .

I'm swaying towards the S2 now, mainly for noise and grip purposes

          welcome

the 55amg is a big barge. not really a 21 yearold's car. surely a fiesta st is more in your ballpark.

a standard s2 sounds nothing special really. it grips but its not a rewarding chassis really.

That is surprising! 190E 2.5 is a peach as well, a cosworth by any chance?
If its grip you want, the S2 has it by the shed load, esp in conditions over the past 2 months.

Gazza - I had a look at Evos and Imprezas but they just don't really do anything for me. A Delta was another option but as the car will be my daily drive I doubt it would work too well. My car history so far has included a Saab 9000 and a Land Rover Series III, I'm not really like most 22yo's

As for a Fiesta ST, nooooooo. I've used my mates one quite a lot, aye, it's fun in the right place but it's a hateful car to live with!

istoo - Yup, that's the one, I wish I'd of kept it and tidied it up

S2 in stock form can be improved handling wise, but good bushes decent Anti Roll Bars and new shocks and springs and it handles like it's on rails.

Are you going for Coupe or Avant? Avants handle better than a Coupe because of the superior rear suspension but lose with increased weight

hi im looking to buy an S2 but finding a good clean one hard to come by, I had a 2.6 V6 coupe which was a brilliant car to own but recently wrote it off on ice. Whats the top end of the spectrum as far as price for an S2? for example what would be reasonable price to pay for a late ABY with 60-70k on it with fsh?

You won't find one with that little mileage im afraid. If you do, it will certainly be at a premium and a rare find.

There tend to be a few ABY coupes with ~120k miles and a few toys for around 5-6k.

Best thing i can say is be patient and wait for the right car.

The S2 is a good solid quick and well handling car which is insurable at 21 unlike almost anything else of the same performance.

                            I was 19 when i got mine

hi sonic thanks for that, i think iv found a pretty clean example at 61k but its been on the market a while so im looking to find an accurate valuation of it? im willing to pay good money for a good one but dont want to be paying over the odds.
