Just been trawling ebay and seen a few s2 coupes up for sale , theyre getting cheaper by the day I swear, anyway seen 2 of them at 2500 or less!
Really really like these cars but want a decent one , currently driving a Passat Tdi so an avant would be ideal but at the moment theyre out of my price range so thought Id join up here and get a feel of what theyre like and common problems etc.

You say the Avant is more expensive than a Coupe, most people on here would say its the other way round!
Just be careful, yes, there are cheap S2's coming up for sale, but some have the potential to be huge money pits.
It would be much better to spend a little more and get a decent one, unless you are happy to get the spanners out yourself

Welcome to the forum, you'll like it here loads of great info and a brilliant set of helpfull folk. Now your going to start a cival war other the avant/coupe, which is better. Lol. What is your price range? It will help people to point you in the right direction.

probably round about 3 to 4k tops, ill probably keep the passat for a while until the £££ s build up then look at getting one. I just love the engines and the look of them, i prefer the coupe but being a family man id settle for the avant, both lovely cars

while you're looking take a look through the forum about the mods that people often carry out. My coupe was completely standard, if you add the cost of a brake upgrade, some decent shocks, chipped ecu, you could double the price in your OP, whereas I think you'll probably pick up a car with a lot of the usual upgrades already done for very reasonable money rather than a bog standard original car needing lots of money to get it right.

Am based in Lancashire, usually frequent volksdevil forum, organised the VAG gathering up in Lancaster, Just seen the old school audi saloon with a 3b engine in for sale on here, now im thinking, hmmmmm, sleeper, could matt black that and get it on the road. Who is this Lord Tonks?

Oooooeeerrr... Lord Tonks... that's a new one on me. The 90 is my old car created just for a bit of fun at castle combe last year. Not a bad motor at all. just wants a little bit of tidying on body and paintwork.
