I might have something for that engine...
But I doubt you will be able to feel the difference with a N/A engine, I wouldn't bother in your place.

You usually can not get more than 5-10% remapping a N/A engine.
I am also not sure what ECU the 2.6 has... was it a Hella ECU?

Sorry to be negative but here's my 2p:- I doubt you'll even notice just a remap. I've had several NA cars remapped and the differences are minimal to say the least and that was on flowed, cammed engines with modified inlet and exhaust.

Exhaust, inlet and flowed heads are the way to get power out of NA, cams too but unlikely to find any and any low end torque you have will ebb away the more extreme you go... By the time you're finished, you'll spend as much as it would cost to upgrade to an engine with more power as stock or even an S2, you'll struggle for insurance on it due to insurance companies being averse to cars with lots of mods and ultimately you'll have 50-100 less ponies than an S2 with no benefits...

A bit harsh I admit but this comes from experience and £000s spent on cars that I should have saved towards something that was actually fast

Fully agree with Rusty, that's why I said that I wouldn't bother remapping it.

Remove that huge amount of ducting and restriction from the bottom of the airbox, should get a little more air in there which should help things no end.

Yeah, i think their hella ecu's and a little problematic to connect to using vagcom!

check lambda's too, i had mine changed due to a scan of the engine and it made a difference to the delivery of the power. (obvious really) also your maf could be iffy too, so have that checked, same with servicing, good plugs and leads ... suprising/frightening how many people skip that bit

my old 80 avant v6 wasn't the quickest by any stretch, but it pulled lovely throughout and sounded pretty decent too
