    hi, buying a s2

Hello to all, I'm new to the form. Was looking to buy a s2 back in 2009, but lost my job week later lol. Back at work now, and looking into buying one. Got around £3000 to spend, like a coupe aby.

    Lucas2,

Be cautious, not the cheapest cars to own, especially noting your purchase budget.

    Best wishes.

Thanks for reply any fast car not cheap to run. Before buying any car all ways look wot can go wrong with it Did see nice red s2 for sale on pistonheads last week, was not quick-nuff go and see it. Tho around £2800 to £3600 is about right for a s2?

budget 2k per year to keep it running and should be a reasonable marker...VERY easy to spend way more...also possible with it in very good order to run much les than that

2K in running costs? I bought my tatty S2 for 1900 then spent 500 to get it to run right. Service parts are cheap. Only money I've spent after this is on upgrades. If you can do the work yourself there not overly expensive to run imo.

Agree with the above, buy an Avant which is ABY and also you’ll never have to sell it as it only has three doors, and is not child friendly. ....

£5k-£6k is what you'd expect to spend on a straight ABY coupe with decent miles and a good service history.

For your budget, I'd be wanting a really good 3B.

I've got a '96 ABY coupe with 132k miles I'd let go of for under £5k, as it has a few minor cosmetic issues (no rust)

id still say £5k is about the right money for a good example. £3k seems to be the lower end of ABYs and all need a bit of TLC from the looks

I would buy Paulgo's pearl white 3B for that money, has lots of ABY bits, rare options and some good upgrades as well as being very well looked after
