    Hello! 2.8V6 CQ here!

Just thought I'd join up (even though I don't have an S2!)

Got a '93 silver coupe quattro with the 2.8V6 (I hear they are fairly rare - or is this just wishful thinking?) after a fair few years messing with E30 BMWs. Some 'challenges' with the car, in particular the very leaky oil system which fails to provide oil on first start, but Audi ownership has overall been very pleasant!

Anyways, Looking forward to getting involved! And possibly getting an S2 eventually.

    Cheers!
    Owen

Hello and welcome from a fellow 2.8CQ owner

Yes they are rare (circa 200 imported)
Don't be shy lets have some pics of yours !
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

          Thanks for the warm welcome!

Here's a pic - pretty standard at the moment, and it's my daily driver so I don't want to go crazy!

Welcome! Nice car and yes the V6q coupes are very rare! I used to have a green one many moons ago.

I have a few mates in Leighton, so I'm down there sometimes. My mate runs Total VAG down there too, if you need any help with the car he's your man

Thanks all! Good to know the car looks good in the photos - living with it is the only tricky bit...

Might have to pop round to total VAG sometime, just taken the car out again and this oil pressure issue is really bugging me! No pressure until I rev to 3k, then it's overall a little low...

At least there are plenty of donor cars with the 2.8V6 (A6 models etc.) that I can get another engine off if things go horribly wrong!

The oil pressure gauages are not particularly accurate, just an indicator really.
But if the low pressure is RPM related I would check the oil pick-up strainer in the sump see if its blocked

Where to start on the oil pressure thing... two valley pan valves replaced, two check valves in the head, sump strainer cleaned, pickup tube re-sealed.... tried all sorts of grades of oil and many oil filters...looks like an oil pump off job, and that's painful on these engines...

Apart from that I'm well chuffed with the car... Definitely on the lookout for an S2, but I need to sell my E30 turbo project first, as I'm starting to accept that I will never have enough time to complete

It may sound really silly but have you tried another guage and sender unit? Also how about getting a compression test done just to see if it is bypassing the rings? Anything obvious like blue smoke out the back?

Car looks sweet by the way needs WHEELS and bin the side repeaters ...

I've been lucky enough to own an E30 318is and an S2 at the same time and they're both great in very different ways

Hope you get the problems sorted or just get a 30V engine out of an A4 and fit that in place
                              Cheers'en, AndyC
