Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase,
You may want to change your location flag on your profile so folks know which country you are in to be able to advise you.

However cut your losses now and face the fact you will never have any money ever again.

Once you accept this fact don't bother replacing standard disks and pads.
Do a search for "Big Reds" or "Big brake Upgrade" and then search the for sale section.

    With regards to the clutch....
    Check fluid level first.
Then could be master cylinder fault
    Slave cylinder fault
    Push rod bent
    Release bearing collapsed.

Again if your taking the box off, consider a change to single mass flywheel and uprated clutch that will handle 500bhp

This way when you start bolting on performance mods you won't suffer with clutch slip

They are very reliable cars, youve made a great purchase. Its just inevitable that you will spend a hell of a lot of money improving the car. Once you realise what engine potential can be achieved, how shocking the standard brakes are, how much the standard suspension can be improved etc etc. You will more than likely get biten by the bug.
But i would recommend getting the car running and driving 100% on standard parts before upgrading things. You should then be able to enjoy the car for a while before throwing thousands at it. Then when you fall in love with it, you may need to remortgage the house.

Welcome to the forum, S2's aren't especially expensive to maintain, it's just all the RS2 bits that are so easy to fit that are so expensive to buy!

As others have said you may as well upgrade the front brakes rather than fixing them as the stock brakes are woeful. You should be able to put a kit together for £500-£700 depending on the grade of pads and discs you go for, the easiest options are Porsche calipers with 314mm discs that fit under stock rims or 323mm for 17" or larger.

Can't really help with the clutch unfortunately, as said though have a good check of the Master and slave cylinders and the line connecting them as getting the clutch out is a big job. The dual mass flywheel isn't so much a problem. The single mass fitted to the 3b is seen as being more sporting though so some have converted their ABY to SM. I've no experience of the SM though so others are probably better to advise.

A thought on fluid level check - other users have experienced that the clutch output nozzle on the brakefluid reservoir was blocked - it is that way as a sparepart (for multiple use, I guess) from the factory, so if it have been replaced at some time the clutch don't see any fluid despite a full brakefluid cup.

Pull the clutch hose on the reservoir and check that as well, before removing the entire gearbox.

I hope it makes sense in my wellformed language; danglish

                          And wellcome
                          Cheers, Torben

That's a good point, if the clutch wasn't bled properly after the cylinder changes then the clutch wouldn't disengage. It's best to bleed the clutch with a pressurised system to get all the air out, there's a guide here.
