Modding is also a problem, I could have fixed mine for a lot less, but if you are replacing a part you might as well upgrade........ And then you start spending more money

hopefully i can save a bit by nicking the hand me downs from my old man and learning from his experience of what to change and what not too.

luckily most jobs can be done between us to save a lot of money

Hello to another forum member in Bristol
As has been said a few of us from Bris on here, we even had our own mini-meet up the downs last summer
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

Thats a possibility, I think the last one (or was it the first ) needed a better date.

Haha! last year I was hoping to get to the meet in my Coupe but it was off the road, and the way things are going this year I expect the S2 Avant will also be off the road

If your gonna do a project may as well make it a long one and do it properly and as other have said 'be prepared to always be skint' lol

                Welcome to the forum Rowan

                  Sound advice there.

Rule of thumb. All items cost a hundred at first. Then throw that out the window it's a grand an item.

You know when your making progress when the figures add up

Welcome glad to see a young guy taking interest in an old classic car. I find the youth of today just are clued up in the vxr's or st's rs's or buckets of tuned rubbish.

cheers guys, think a bit more time researching and thinking of budget is needed.

maybe even looking for a very clean example and paying a bit more upfront will save me time and money later on, not that it will still be cheap.

But all worth it at the end of the day in my eyes.

would much rather spend a few thousand on a real car that any of the above

Take a good look at some money before you never see it again $, but don't worry it's totally worth it

Look forward to seeing your mild upgrade mutate into an all out rebuild

If you're anything like me and like a car to look good, I would try to find one that has really good well cared for paint. As a respray will look great but in my opinion is the most tedious, expensive and time consuming job if you're wanting to put it all back together right.
