Hi there,
Dont own a coupe currently but seriously looking to buy since theyve been a childhood dream to have one, always had a fascination with such a beautiful car.

My main interest would be to get a 2.8 quattro (30v?)
ive seen plenty videos of 30v's on youtube not sure if they came this way as standard or whether an engine conversion has taken place.
really hope i can pick one up soon,
theres a 2L for sale at the top of my road, looks in pretty good condition but after hearing the sound of a 2.8 30v ive got my heart set on one of them

You really should hear a 20Valve turbo in-line five on wide-open throttle before you get too far set in your wants. It'll stand your hair on end.

PS: Any V6 in a CQ would have been 12 valve from the factory, a 172 hp leaking lump in 2.8L form. If it was a 30v then it was a swap. Other swaps would be the 2.7L twin turbo from a B5 S4 or a C5 A6 2.7tt.

do the S2's come in 2.8 or only 2.2?

is it possible to straight swap a 30v block of similar age without too much hassle then?

S2 is 5 cylinder 2.2 turbo only
Coupe with a v6 is either 2.6 or 2.8 from factory

and could you straight swap a 2.8 30v for a 12v?

The coupe as said above came in a variety of forms with 1.8/2.0 4 cylinders 8v or 16v, 2,2/2.3 5 cylinder then 12v 2.6/2.8 v6, the 30v 2.8 is from the A4 and earlier A6,s. The S2 is a coupe but only as 5 cylinder turbo quattro.

There is currently a silver 80 cabrio for sale in the sale section with the 2.8 30valve conversion, in his add there is a detailed info and link to his build project.

after a bit of thought and consideration to the fact i already have on child a coupe much as i like the idea isnt practical.

think going for the a4 2.8 30v means im being practical size wize and get the engine that makes the kinda noise i like.

Good luck with the hunting, go the whole hog and find a nice quattro version with full leather and all the trimmings, cracking motors
