    hello from AUS - urS4 :)

About to pick up my first urS4!

    1994. 200, 000kms well maintained.

Have owned a few B5's, one with a built motor.

Plan was originally to buy a B5 S4, this gem popped up.for sale and was 1/3 of the price.

    Straight up plans are:

    GT30
    Injectors
    Rs2 manifold
    3" dump
    Intake
Some form of tune - suggestions please
    Clutch - suggestions please

What is the limit of stock rods and pistons?

    I aim to make 350-400whp :-)

      Been there done that

Do it right first time round.

What im concerned with is is the gt30 safe on a stock block given peak torque will be higher in rev range ?

Guessing I wont run more than 22ish psi on stock block.

When its build wind it up to 32

Personally, I think anything over about 380 crank hp (i.e. RS2 EM, turbo, injectors) and you should be thinking about upgrading the rods. For 350-400 whp, definitely going to need upgraded rods.

And what about tuning options, has anyone used kevin black (vems) remote tuning?

What power are the stock pistons good for?

Nice price assuming its the silver one still on carsales last night.

Easiest tuning option would be to talk to prj on here and send your factory ecu to him for a generic map to suit the turbo and injectors you will use. This could influence what turbo you go for.

You can't remote tune VEMS, no knock control, so you can't dial in the timing properly.
Same goes for pretty much any ECU which does not have knock control pre-set for the I5.

Find an ECU that can be live tuned in your country.

On a GT30R, 30 psi flat works. It would work with stock rods too, but i'd change them.

I agree, better to use a product sold locally and you won't be left stranded with no one able to help. I'm going with Autronic, expensive, but proven to be a great ECU.

Autronic probably the way to go in Australia, as it's very popular over there and you should have a good range of people who can tune it.

I've seen videos of the Autotune feature, I'm really impressed.

I'm cutting the motronic plug off and re-attaching the Autronic one on so I can reuse most of the original loom. I'll be doing all the wiring and base tune/cal set up myself
