Hi all,
I've just bought a 94 RS2 and she needs a refresh or possibly upgrade,
Just wondered if anybody has any recommendations for rods pistons gaskets etc and any good suppliers.
Thanks.
What's the mileage? Any specific issues that you feel needs a full rebuild?
I bought an RS2 a few years back that needed a head rebuild (noisy tappets and worn stem seals) but I put 10k miles on it first, then did a full rebuild at 160k miles.
You'll want to think about what else refreshing - cooling system, PAS pump, replace hoses with silicone if not done already... then there's brakes, suspension, subframes, lots of bushes and mounts that you'd want to think about depending on what it's history is.
Also think about how close to original you want to keep it. I wanted minimal change to the OEM look but an increase in performance, so whilst it has a few tweaks for performance (forged rods, ported head, hybrid turbo) I took opportunity to refit a stock airbox with a foam filter, for example.
Hi thanks for that,
She's already been modified, she was smoking quite a bit so I did a compression test and found cyl 5 low, so the heads off and it looks like its done a ring. It's also been running lean so will need a remap. It's got 0.5mm oversize pistons in and ARP head bolts also fitted is a non standard turbo it's got a tag on from AET which reads VT101-6. I think it's a k26/27 hybrid.
All brakes and suspension will have an overhaul so does anybody have any recommendation.
I'd like to keep it fairly original but with a few tweaks, I want it to be usable not a track focused beast or a trailer queen.
Thanks again for your help.
