Ive only gone & bought an s2 coupe

Hi, Im new to the forum as I am usually into veedubs and classic fords. I have a few on going projects on the go. I came across this beast yesterday and couldn't refuse to be honest.....

Its been a bit neglected and feeling sorry for itself, but I was a bit lucky as they fetch strong money in good condition and most people only seem to sell them when they are in good condition.

I have always liked the coupe, and it was a toss up between a coup and an E30, but this cropped up...

6 speed box and ABY Engine seems to run nice and quiet, lifters sound quiet, idles smooth and pulls real strong through the gears

like I said needs love and tidying up but I will get it through mot and use it and repair / replace as I can afford / get time, couldn't let it pass, you don't see many, especially for sale.

    Things I need to do....
Electric windows were working when parked up last year but now nothing on either, any pointers please?
    Rear lights not working
Re fit interior that was removed to source a water leak
    replace power steering pipe
New pads (may aswell do discs)
    bloody good polish / buff

Is the wiring diagram for this the same as an 80 coupe non quattro
Im after a haynes or similar to fault find electrics if anyone can point me in right direction please....

    cheers

Windows could be relay, does sunroof open?
    Or duff switches-dry joints?
I've broken 2 s2 avants recently so may have some parts to help you out

      Congrats. An ABY too.

Electric window issues : On many occasions it was a bit of corrosion in the 363 relay under the drivers side dash. I remember being told to take the relay out and tap it on the ground, and put it back. sure enough it worked for a while. I then services the relay and cured it

      Workshop manuals.

Use your haynes coupe for the rest thats left out.

well actually the following dont work....
fan heater blower, windows, indicators, rear lights and mirrors. hmmmm. The previous owner (a friend) has pulled interior out and not very carefully at that so Im hoping he hasnt damaged any cables / wires

the sunroof is working, the radio and head lights are working. il spend some time trying to remedy the faults tomorrow. want to get it out on the road for some fun. real sexy cars!

That looks like it has a great deal of potential, do you know if the water leak was cured as that really is a bug bear with Audi Coupes?

I'd start by checking the fuse's and earth points, rear light connections often need attention as well.

          Anyway welcome to the site.

cheers guys. i think a bit of elec fault finding is in order, i take my dmm to unit tomorrow and trace it back. the lack of electrical diagrams doesnt help.

Shall i buy a 80 coupe haynes (only one i found is up to 1990) mine being a '93? will this be ok for most elec diagrams and similar

cheers & thanks for the welcome ✌️

Windscreen/A post/ door seals are normally the problem if the cars had a replacement screen, it's days work to do a screen on a Coupe properly and fitters never have that much time so it gets bodged.

                  Door seals
Windscreen trim (remove a pillar outer trim to re seal)
                  Rear lights
                  Boot seal
                  Boot trim panel bolts
                  sunroof/drains/drip tray

search for "leak" if you want more as well

A haynes is kind of handy given they are cheap, but limited, does not cover quattro, 20vt etc.

Mike's site linked above has some good workshop manuals hosted including wiring iirc.

                  More on S2central as well.

that's a great find and one of my favourite colours too - very nice.

nasty wheels tho'! a nice set of proper s2 avus alloys would finish it off nicely . .

You're not wrong re: rims. They came on Earlier ABY's and ALL 3Bs

Avus look 1000x better. They came on later ABYs with variations of the 'AVUS' same rim on S3/4/8
