One other thing you should consider. The URS4 has a lockable diff so it works really well in the snow where the URS6 is crap in the snow because it doesnt have the lockable diff. Why Audi omitted that on a 4WD Audi i will never know.

Yes, and you can make it so it doesn't "unlock" at 15mph and you'll definitely have more fun than urS6 owner.

With all due respect to 3B owners, I wouldn't suggest a 3B to this potential new owner.

AAN / ABY is better end of, for a myriad of reasons.

How many days of the year are the roads covered in snow in Peterborough ?

You're over emphasising any perceived advantage in having switchable diff - imho.

You need to bear in mind the op is looking for guidance not moot points.

Not good idea. On my S2 I've never needed to use the lockable diff. And if I tried it on snow to see what happened the car slewed sideways, rather than accelerate in a straight line on the snow.

It is really for when you stuck in decent mud or bad ice. Using it any other time is just di*king around. :roll eyes:

A lot of people do buy a quattro for bad weather events not just because of slippery wet roads and after driving a 1997 A6 C4 quattro in the snow i had a very near miss where the rear end just flicked out whilst pulling out of a junction slowly in the snow.If it had the diff lock my ticker wouldn't have started beating quickly. Craig Gene and bolly doesn't like his S6 in the snow either compared to his 90 20v quattro he had. Those are the experiences.Sorry.

I think it's good to let OP know as much as possible about both cars, so he can make a decision.

Another thing to consider is that URS6 has better gearbox and HP2 as standard. When I bought my URS4 it had HP2 conversion done already (most of them do tbh) and had a refurbished gearbox because of bad 1st gear if I remember right (Audi fixed the gearbox problem on URS6). So "sort of" big bills on my URS4 were paid.

TBH, you've just agreed with my original suggestion that he should seek out a manual UrS6, but now after reading this thread, he'll know why. so no harm done, as it is always good to re-cap on these UrS6 advantages.
