hi people first post so im a newbie i believe, my names frank at present own a ur quattro 20v ,a4 tdi cab(wifes),and just about to own b7 rs4 (trading in my nasty 911 ) i also have a mk4 tdi golf (breaking),a 1.0 polo (work car)and a 96 L200 (firewood collector)ive been into my audis for many many years and have owned s2s,quattros,urs,urs4s,b6s4s,and probably about 6or7 85 shape coupes. My most memorable being a porsche peppermint green coupe with ur quatt engine nitros and other mods(300bhp thro front wheels is torquesteertastic) which won my sprint class at gti inters for 5or6 years running from 96ish.I or rather my friend has a problem at moment with his s2 avant and was wondering if anybody out there has a solution last week an 83yr old bloke pulled out on him and wrote his pride and joy off ,the problem is the insurance has come with a price of 1300 pounds which is book list i imagine he only wants another s2 he loves them as i do but 1300 aint gonna buy one especially as nice as his was we have looked for one for sale and are struggling so could do with a list of sorts to show the insurance that this just aint gonna cut it,i think they should be paying about 5k onwards any words of advice would be a great help or any s2 avants coming up for sale, he is keeping his old baby due to leather trim porsche brakes etc so one with a few problems might not be a problem, once again thanks for having me and sorry for first post being abit of a drone.cheers frank .

Love your UR. There are not many S2 avants left now and nice ones rarely come up for sale. Matt's lovely silver one sold recently. Was advertised for just under £7k.

Search back through the for sale section over the last year or so, there should be a handful of nice examples sold that you can show the insurers. There was a very tidy red avant I seem to remember too. Even scruffy ones rarely go for less than £3k. Maybe ask a few owners nicely to advertise their's on pistonheads for you

old biddy writes off s2

cheers dude thats the only thing he can do really he just feels like hes gonna get ripped off by the insurance .His car was pushed across the road and into a fence the driver (83 year old never had accident caused hundreds)drove off hiding his car in his garage luckily his reg plate was left behind and the cops traced him.My mate chris's s2 needs 4doors ,1 wing, 2 rear quarters,a jig,and subframe plus leg and wheels so in other words wrote off,hes gutted but at least he refused to let them take it away so shes on his drive it was a clean black,black leather,stainless exhaust,porsche braked,s2 now parts for his next if he gets paid out .

Latest update on old biddy writes off mates s2 avant today got an offer of £4100 and his old car so he is taking it and hopefully with the injury money for his wrist and neck etc he will be looking for another avant very shortly .took these pics today looking very sad .

As you can see his car has seen better days they did come to collect but after a phone call from me he wouldnt let them take it, he wanted to see his porsche brakes and exhaust etc again.

oh and it also means i can have my spare 6 speed gearbox back aswell that i lent him 5 years ago, i was planing to fit to my ur quattro but ive never got the balls to start messing with her shes just too dam clean to start tinkering with i think .
