    Newbie from South Africa

    Gentlemen,

My name is Grant Viljoen and I live in Pretoria, South Africa.
Two years ago I started looking for a RS2 Avant to add to my collection of cars and it's a car that left a huge impression when I drove one many years ago when they were still relatively new. I was looking for something to replace my Porsche 928S, which at that stage had over 200 000km on the clock, and I test drove a blue RS2 Avant. It knocked my socks off, but I just couldn't afford it at that stage.
RS2 Avants are pretty rare in SA, but I managed to find a solid example with 188 000km on the clock. It was a good unmodified original example needing some cosmetic attention with a good black leather interior, which is what I wanted most. I also looked at a blue car (first prize in terms of colour) at the same time, but it was tatty with a higher asking price.
I've subsequently done a lot to the car to improve it, including a very expensive engine overhaul, but more about that later.
I am also lucky enough to own a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 500E (one of only four in SA), the other Porsche love child.

Welcome aboard - no doubt you'll be interrogated on engine number and gear box type soon

Congratulations on having the Merc 500E too - another rare bird.

indeed very rare to find one for sale in SA... I`m patiently waiting for the right one to come along.

I`m in East London, Have a 1982 Coupe GT which is very far from standard and also have a Coupe 2.8 V6 Quattro which has a 2.2 5 Cylinder Turbo engine in.. becoming a track car soon.

Hello Grant - nice to see you here. In my 7 years of RS2 ownership, this here forum has helped me immensely.
Look forward to seeing your car on the road again.
