    Newbie from Scotland

    Hi guys,

A new member who's just bought a 2.8 coupe quattro so no doubt I'll be searching and seeking advice for any hiccups down the line.
This will be my 2nd coupe, had a 2ltr 8v years ago when all my mates had XR, RS's etc and always said I'd have another. I couldn't stretch to a S2 but wanted a quattro and something that needed a bit work so found this barn find, sat there for 8yrs but it's been back on the road for the last 8mths. Was a bit gutted as it's been painted which the seller told a porky about but two days with the DA I've managed to get some shine back and it's presentable, other than the ridiculous amount of farm dirt I've removed from the interior and underneath it's not too bad. It's drives fairly well but the rear diffs caked in oily silt and rear subframes rotten so those are my first port of call. Plans are only really to tidy it up, a slight lower and some decent wheels.

    The new arrival,

    Before,

    After,

New exhaust rubbers to lift it off one of the shafts,

    Next mission,

nice paint, crispy underside....should be ok with some grafting. Get it shot blasted...if ti survives that then should be just fine with a zinc primer and powder coat.

I think my rear subframe could be worse

My front survived a blast, a bit pitted but there's a fair bit of metal in them.

                    Nice looking coupe you have.

Agreed, that is a very nice looking coupe you have and great to see it being saved!

Liking the bit about needing "some decent wheels",some on here have a fettish for them! All will reveal itself i'm sure.

                      All the best with it.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!!

Wheel shopping I think will be a long way off, need to get the dirty bits all sorted first and as usual funds will be an issue but I'm in no hurry. Priority first now is my garage, really need to get it cleared and tidy so the coupe can actually fit inside!!

I've had a good look over and under it and there's certainly nothing so far that is too far out of my skills, just need to research things before rushing in to them.

The avant is pretty much all show and slow go, old reliable diesel burner but scrubs up well. That was partly the reason I bought the coupe to stop me from tinkering and wasting more money on the avant.

I'm up in the east of Fife, hate the 10 spokes and luckily I know a great powdercoater:-)
