    Hello to my new family!

    Hello to all of you,

I have been watching this forum for quite a while, but now I decided to join the S2 family since I am finally looking to buy an Audi S2.
I have read many threads on the forum regarding the two types - 3B and ABY and also I have talked to my mechanic and it seems that the ABY with the 3B flywheel is what I want.
    Had a few experiences with Audi - A3 from 2003, A6 from 2008 ( both sold ) and an A8 from 2007 bought in 2009 ( though my favorite is by far the V10 S8 ).

Don`t really know what to say, I don`t want to become boring starting with my first post

Any questions, advice as well are more than welcome!

    Best regards,
    Vlad

From what I have searched and what I Know, I can sum up all in one word: inexistent... unfortunately.
There were 2 S2`S and one RS2... but that was a few years ago and I think they are sold.
Some parts are available, though: pistons and other engine parts.

Thank you ! I think I am currently spending a few hours a day hunting. I find a lot of them in UK, but I need LHD.
ABY's are rare... hope will find one ( as long as the engine is working, any condition will do the job)
Glad to be a member of your community !

Don't rule out a good 3B their a better drivers car than an ABY IMO, lighter, and the five speed box is really well suited to the engine (110 MPH + in third) though not as strong as the ABY's six speed but the five speed will handle 400 BHP and 600NM before you stand much chance of breaking it.

I have an RS2 which it totally awesome and I'm very lucky to have it however my old RS2+ spec 3B Coupe was way more fun to drive until I killed it.

To be honest I have already found a nice 3B, from 1991, first owner, Audi service booklets, and under 180.000 km. The car is in very very nice condition and was used only in mediteranean climate ( no snow ). The price is good, the paint and bodywork are looking great. The thing is that the car was stationary from 2010-2011 and a friend ( mechanic also ) told me that the ABY is more easily tuned due to the 5 coils. Also he is telling me that the gearbox on ABY is better ( though I told him that the 3B gearbox is much more appropriate for the car and more raw to say so )

Now I can say I am pretty confused

Sounds great ! I can assure you if I already had an S2 I would have definetely bought it.
For now the S2 Coupe is on my list.

                  Thank you again !

The six speed box is way stronger than the five speed though, unless your planning on going well over RS2+ spec I wouldn't let it concern you.

The 3B ECU and dissy ignition system is inferior to the later ABY/ADU, no argument there, but again it will happily cope with RS2+ spec if in tip top condition.

Sounds like you've found a good car, if your not planning on going past RS2 spec then a good 3B is a better choice than a tatty ABY.

I am back. After almost two days where I literally organized a real debate with a few mechanics and friends that are also car enthusiasts.
The fight is now between that very well maintained 3B and two ABY`s - one from `94 ( with changed coils and a soft ) and the other from `95 ( engine in great condition, no mods, and the only issues are with the sunroof and the distribution belt that needs to be changed)

To be honest, the ABY from `95 is the best choice ( all are the same price by the way ). It also comes with the service book, all the invoices, those cool leather seats and the engine and transmission are in perfect condition.

I took into account your advice and since I tend to get over excited I will choose the ABY and probably have its brakes changed with the RS2 ones, the wheels also, and maybe some more power.
By the end of this month or no later than the first half of March I will show you the result of my hunt.

                      Thank you so much!
