Almost done taking apart the damaged RS2

A bit of damaged parts found that I did not see on inspecting the car:

-valve cover has a small crack but I have a spare one
-N75 valve broken connection ->need to find a new one
-gearbox mount on the left broken corners ->replace of weld?


Still need to take out the steering rack,hood and a lot of small parts.
All cabling and parts on the roof need to get sorted in boxes or directly into an other car.

After that the empty shell can go. If anybody is looking for an RS2 body to fix or take apart for a quattro conversion PM me.

Got some wiring looms out of the car. almost done with grey one.

I have the original gearshift knob whit good condition leather however the cover with the shift pattern is missing. Anybody an idea where i can source this? Maybe from a different model shiftknob as the RS2 has the knob and gaiter as a single piece and is hard to find.

Almost ready with taking al good parts from the damaged RS2. Bit of work to get all the parts sorted out. Once I've build a full list I will need an RS2 for sale
I knew a quattro has a lot of driveshafts but almost 3 spare sets my spare at the moment. The 2 black cars also have all 4 still mounted

Done taking apart the grey RS2. empty body put on some casters so I could roll it onto the driveway.

Not sure what to do with the empty body yet.. If anybody has interest for a project let me know.

One more RS2 in Belgium?

Well i bought them from someone in belgium already. The accident car is a belgian registered car that had it's accident somewhere late 2006 early 2007. The 2 black RS2's are swiss cars thazt already went through customs in belgium but not yet registered. As there's no engine yet in these.

got a set of brand new RS2 mirror feet today. For the rest it's just porsche parts to complete them.

Just a quick update. busy with the engine at the moment. borrowed the cranck locking tool from the local dealer. All gaskets and oilseals ordered. cast alloy parts are going to the vapor blaster for a super nice finish. I've had a 7A intake done there before and it looks amazing. bare alloy but not at all finger print sensitive like glasbead blasted.
Will make some more pictures later this week.

Some questions I have:
-What size decal do I need for the OEM RS2 brakes? front and rear have been redone before so no idea how big the 'porsche' script is. At the moment it's some 90's style wordart on there... looks like Mickey mouse letters was the theme during the previous paintjob.
-Any suggestions for the best oem look headliner fabric?

Decals are 75mm in length. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my rear calipers, it's a time consuming and expensive job to do well.

I'm also doing my headlining and I'm using Nylotrim which is a foam backed brushed nylon. It looks correct, and it's reasonably cheap. I can post some pictures once I've done it, but I'm currently still at the stage of removing endless horrible sticky orange foam. I am having difficulty finding the same material without foam backing as used on the sunroof panel and A pillar trims.

Thanks for the info on de decals. Ordered them straight away. Headliner is still an issue then. A-pilars are still in good shape so that I can skip. But sunroof panel need just fabric without the 3mm foam to slide open?

Today I've been cleaning parts on gearbox and engine all day.

When taking the crank bolt off I've taken the cheap 1/2 extension in stead of the quality one. Before they where the same lenght. From now on that mistake can't happen again.

Oil pump was in verry good shape. Just took it apart to clean it in and out and put a new oilseal. rear crank oil seal came next.

All parts that are going out for vapor blasting went into my home sand blasting cabinet for a quick clean.

Gearbox has been cleaned. What a massive work to get all that done. The non painted part is not as bling like fresh blasted stuff but good enough for me. The rear part received a new coat of black paint.


For now no real drama found on the engine all it needs is cleaning and new gaskets for peace of mind.

Gearbox all cleaned up. Just need to do the belt tentioner bracket. But still having the grit for alloy in the blasting cabinet so steel parts the need a sandblast is for next week of the week after.
