  • Vr6 Maf

Was wondering if there was any conclusion to the debate that was last had about VR6 MAF's ..good mod ?..and was the AFT affected by them?..I have bought 2 of them so intend to try one out on the avant and see if there is any difference

    Cheers

What is the Bosch number on that one ?

Only way to see if its comparable to S2 / RS2 MAF is to monitor its output voltage on a 2nd or 3rd gear pull - can be logged in VAGCOM if you like.

I went out in an Avant car with the VR6 maf in it and I have to say it was really really smooth running off the stock map

Paul , do you have the S2 maf output voltage VS flow curve ? Or some values ...

I'm trying to find how ecu works with the maf ...

Funny - no not yet... But by some fluke I have that planned for this weekend.

          I have a fresh RS2 MAF
I also have my original S2 MAF
          And a spare S2 MAF
          And a faulty S2 MAF

**** thats enough MAFs for me - I'm going to try and get a spread of the values... At idle and on 2nd or 3rd gear pulls. Figuring I can do this in VAGCOM - not ideal as the sample rate isn't great, but should be OK averaged out over a few repeatable runs.

I'm wanting a USB ADC to do this more accurately - and size up differences with the hotfilm MAF when I get it.

Ok , please send me the curve when you have it ...

I think that 1 sample each 0.1v will be ok ...

              BOSCH Number i think 25/93 24 2 A or is it 0 280 213 021

How do I do that on vag.com ...measuring blocks?

              Cheers

Yes - measuring blocks - Group 0 - LOAD and RPM will do it.

You'll notice the difference I was quite amazed at the smoothness of the K24 with the VR6 MAF granted I hadn't driven a stock car in ages but it was noticeable the difference.

Only thing I could think off was that it leaned out the rich stock ECU map. If it works with a homefries would be for someone to test.

I haven't got near the car to do anything meaningful in a while... Its resting the garage away from all the horrible wet stuff that falls from the sky on a daily basis - waiting on parts to fix my water leak then I can maybe get somewhere

ain't it just the difference between a bit dirty stock MAF versus a new VR6 MAF? Or are both items new?

Why bother with quattro for 'fair weather' driving :mischeif:

I've noticed that swapping from my OE UK MAF to my Slovenian special blend MAF makes a difference. Until it remaps for part load there will be a difference but at WOT I guess different MAFs make a difference.
