you can expect to be greeted by a smiling scotsman
Doug will check you car over wit a healthcheck to make sure the car is running properly prior to mapping, a few vagcom sessions and then a few runs up the MRC test track taking logs on the car to verify the engines perfomance
I don't know what type of map your having as you haven't stated if it's generic or a real time map. If it's a real time one prepare to meet the nutty professor of motronics!
Excellent - sounds interesting. Can't wait to find out what the car is doing as it is now, before the re-map.
EDIT - does the real time re-map mean they don't actually use a dyno?
Thanks
Jim

Yep, the MRC test track is a very interesting experience. Mihnea sits in the car with his laptop reading the codes directly off the (emulated) ECU of your car and tweaks settings while you boot it. It's like a scene from The Matrix!
You'll be doing lots of "timed runs". Check your speed to see if the tweaks result in extra speed, which of course means extra power...
How do they map at full throttle, at high revs in top gear? (and keep below 70 moh ofcourse.... )
Also, does this real time mapping not involve in never mapping any less than usual driving condition mappings? Like, top gear, 20mph, etc etc etc...
Just wondering what thoughts were on this?
My bike, for example, will have to be mapped first on an engine dyno (not rolling road)
and then the map tweaked a fair bit whilst on road, with a laptop, but can't be done real time, as it's very hard to ride and fiddle with a laptop at the same time...!!!!
Cannot be done on a rolling road either, as there is no ram air effect...
Its all very interesting.....
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...
You drive repeated runs at full throttle up a steep hill in higher and higher gears to get full load on the engine, then down the hill on very light throttle to get the light load settings optimised.
Let's just say that some of the more powerful cars that have mapped there have been known to slightly exceed the national speed limit by a few mph...
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...
MSD in Blackpool for one (www.remapping.co.uk)
Id be willing to bet money that they could map an S2 live, its only Motronic at the end of the day!
Heh well that's not true as you can't access motronics via a cable like the 1.8T you have to plug a simulator into the ecu port or via the chip ports in the ecu.
I'll have a bet with you phone them up and ask if they can I won't post for a week
A run down of what they do when you take your car in for a live map.
Scroll down the page to chapter 6, oh, whats that!? Surely not an emulator plugged into the ecu where the chip once sat?
Trust me, they REALLY REALLY know their stuff when it comes to live mapping
Does anyone know the names of the in circuit emulator hardware and software that MRC and others use for live mapping? I'd be interested in reading up a little more about it.
