A bit crafty, but you should have a 10-day grace period when you buy an insurance premium. You could go with a super-high quote, as long as you have the money to put down and pay for it, and then be able to cancel it for a full refund within 10 days! Just don't make a claim in that time...then you can put it forward for registration and cancel the policy

Thanks for all the advice guys!
It would appear that the refusal is partially based on my origin!Im from NZ and do not have a UK drivers licence, therefore I am discriminated against! If I get a UK licence,I lose my NZ licence. My wife and I will only be in the UK for another year,so that is not an option.I am also refused because I do not have any no claims bonus in the UK.Hell,Ive only been here 6 months!
Since insurance is compulsory here,I can not see why insurance companies are not required by law to supply insurance to any applicant at a fair and equitable cost(at a third party level). If it wasnt compulsory,as in NZ,I could understand refusals.IMO,compulsory insurance should not be a business,it should be available to all.At the moment, the car insurance industry is rife with discrimination!
Looking at the EU community rules,it would appear that I can insure my car in any of the member states, regardless of being a resident or not.Interesting, since we will be going to Italy in a year.
When I cool down,maybe I will see things a little differently!Last edited by urq20v; 9 June 2006, 14:20.Comment
