5 pot and 4 pot are not the same bolt pattern on the bell housing you will need a 4 pot quattro box and diff for the vw engine.

If it helps i have an 80 (4 pot) quattro box and diff in my shed?

mcandmar - thats cool see this is what i miss since bough jap the jap forums just so up themselves and have no imagination about how a car works only very few do and just lets it down plus the build quality not as good as VAG just a pity there was never a 1.3 VAG car as crazy as a RX7 lol oh well lol

djones - keep that there if u dont mind as ill try source that right car and then go from there

also guys does anyone know if there engine mounting points are same ? also if there are on a subframe so means all i have to do is get a 4 pot subframe? or if they welded to the chassis?

Wait. Most gearboxes have BOTH 4 and 5 pot patterns. Hey, they even have V6 and V8 patterns. The first 80/90 Quattros had different gearboxes for 4 and 5 pot but that changed after a few years. Then they turned dual pattern. So only if your car has an old style 016 you have to watch out. 01A and 01E are all dual pattern.

Mounting points for engines differ between 4, 5, 6 and 8 pots. So, no luck there. Basically - set your mind on a car and it'll sort it self out. I mean, building engine mounts isn't really rocketscience.

"The jap forums just so up themselves and have no imagination" I'm with you there, i ran away from the world of Hondas for that very reason, every forum was full of clueless idiots whos idea of modifying was buying everything from the Demon Tweeks catalog. Sheep

mcandmar - I know mate I miss my corrado now and ive been in the VW scene 10 years im with japs 3 months and im gagging to come back lol oh well but got to admit 300bhp rear wheels no traction control gives you huge smile lol

Henka - well im def going to get something thats already got K-jet fuel pump (as if its like the VW system great pumps for fuelling) and with 4x4 in there just depends if whats the car prob go for a type 89 as more modern so means more options coupe or 4 door prob be 4 door more pratical and people wont see it coming lol

Just one quick question is the engine mounts welded to a sub frame that can be taken off with a few bolts or is it welded to the actual chassis? so i knwo what im working with here

nope sorry i hate 20v 4 pots there poo in my opinion

16vT engiens produce good power and ive only know one person to blow one where the 20v i know more than 10 people to make them go bang for no reason at all standard and modified

                                so i wont touch them
