    Advice needed on Audi Coupe

    Hi folks,
I am a novice on all things Audi but am nonetheless looking to buy a Coupe. I have seen an 1990 2.3 Coupe 5 cylinder 20valve dohc here in Ireland, but its at the other end of the country and before I head down I was looking for some advice. Basically as to whether it sounds like a good deal.
Mileage is 116,000, its apparently in mint condition and drives as new, with fully stamped service history from two owners.
    he/she is asking €3,250 (circa £2,200 or $4000)

    Thanks in advance

    C

Well just to give you a pointer, I paid £500 quid less than that for a quattro version 1990 with 105K on the clock, in good nick just a touch of bubbling on the passenger door. Very well maintained engine and car too with lots of expensive recipts (I know that is spelt wrong but brain not working). Just to give you an idea.

            Thanks Azman,

I take it that the S2 isn't the same model as the one I am looking at. Ever since I have been looking at these yokes I have found it hard to pin down exactly what model the cars are. There isn't a as big a culture over here for these sort of cars and most people haven't got a monkies what they are talking about.

So, basically what I'm asking is, is a 2.3 20valve classed as an S2 or is it a poorer cousin?

The one I am looking at is a lovely shade of green and looks like its in very good condition (body wise). I reckon I could get him down on the price having seen that and heard what yours cost

Hmmmm difference in standard is about 50 to 60 BHP ans alot of fun. The S2 is only quattro as is the CQ20v that I have converted to an S2 engined car. The Coupe Quattro and S2 are roughlty the same car (The later/younger S2's having a 6speed 230BHP engine while the older having a 5spd box and 220bhp (same gearbox as in the Coupe quattro 20v).

I enjoyed my CQ20 but it is a damn site more fun now it has 250+ (not recorded yet) ponnies under the bonnet.

I do kick myself as if I have saved up a touch more and bought an S2 in the first place I wouldn't have had the ball ache of changing the engines etc.

Other than that if it is a quattro you are going for, the brakes are the same (upgrade!!!!!!), and there is very little difference other than look. (the CQ20 if I remember correctly only came with the flat fronted bonnet as it was the S2 precurser)(correct me if I am wrong guys)

From my experience (as you can see whicj is painfull (ask WABTHEKING too as he has done the same) I would keep an eye for an actual S2 of the 3b (220BHP) engined variety (earlier the better so you can get rid of the cats later down the line)

Just so you know what I mean by flat fronted bonnet. Grill is not included in the bonnet as with the S2 on the bay. Looks like this.

Nice, no signs of it being a quattro though. Usually have a rear badge saying 20V quattro. Still looks in good nick.
