I don't see why he's slanting the steering. I find it perfectly responsive on or off the track... I just hate the bad understeer , but that's not the steering's fault is it !

3 aux gauges are "not easy to see at 150mph"

They get all shy and turn away at that speed then do they ? ?

My steering is as tight as the wifes purse springs (steady now, wasn't going to say anything else)
Speedo hasn't peeled,
Gears nice and crisp, certainly ain't sloppy.
And even though I have leather seats like Steve, the "quattro" cloth looks the dogs b00llocks anyway.

He's comparing it to the ur quattro, when both were new (not the worn out tired examples like Fatty has) the S2's steering couldn't compare to the ur's directness

Well i think the writer has been very harsh, and most likely done his reaserch over the internet....... grrrr! Cant belive he said the s2 had failed, what did expect audi to do???? release a road going s1 A2??? with 800bhp that will only do 500 miles on one turbo if you are lucky??

Technically the S2 was far superior to the urq it replaced, it's downfall was the fact that the ur had a huge enthusiast following and was very well respected in the motoring press.
The urq was hand built, the S2 was a mass produced vehicle.
urq 11 year production run 11500 (ish) made
S2 5 year production run 20000 (ish) made

It was a rough figure from something I read many years ago (in a galaxy far, far away...) propbably wrong but the S2 was still a main line vehicle.

shame he didn't mention that they are so 'obscure' most stealers wouldn't know what they were if one parked up outside

S2 and UR are totally different animals and were positioned as such too IIRC, I think the media just chose to line them up side by side

shame he didn't mention that some of those gremlins like the gearchange can be easily sorted for less than £100. I'm sure originally they said it had a ponderous change, was not a box that liked to be rushed but it was smooth. I think Hewn from granite was another quote too
