Those RS2's were manufactured solely by Audi but designed by Audi and Porsche. I think there had been commercial issues to invent a somewhat _virtual_ consortium "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Audi/Porsche"..
The S6 plus was the first car that was manufactured by the "Quattro GmbH" and _not_ by Audi.

Not quite correct, they were actually built by Porsche too at the Porsche factory hence each one having a unique Porsche build number.

Yeh - they were assembled at Zuffenhausen which is in/around Stuttgart - thats Porsche territory...

The P1 designation is used to separate it from a plain old B4 as per Audi 80 Avant or Audi S2 Avant

And yes the VIN on an RS2 starts WAC - not WAU like the S2... and I'm no Porsche expert but I dont think Porsche VINs start WAC...

Interesting. I guess the 11th digit is Z instead of A?

Tis indeed - when I first saw that on the VIN I thought it was a bit daft - seeing as Z is also used a blank character !

Zuffenhausen is a suburb of Stuttgart, on the southwest side, IIRC (visited the factory once in 1987). The RS2 was indeed a collaboration between Audi and Porsche and helped to fill the manufacturing capacity void that was left when the deal between Porsche and Daimler-Benz to assemble the 500E ran out.

Here is one RS2 story (repost):

Surely since Porsche own VW, which owns Audi, the RS2 should be called the Porsche-VW-Audi RS2:mischeif:
and by that reasoning another certain car should be called the Porsche-VW-Audi-Lamborghini Gallardo????????????
                  Or the Porsche-VW-Bugatti Vernon??????????

Porsche don't outrightly own Volkswagon, they have #35% controlling share interest of the VAG group share but I believe they have rights on up to 75% of shares.

All this was to head of a feared buyout due to change in European law to stop Ford and other companies buying out VAG as Porsche rely heavily on VAG

Yes that will make a point if........ we're talking of nowadays assesment of VW/SEAT/SKODA/AUDI/LAMBORGHINI/ROLLSROYCE and so on....... all owned by Porsche as it seems today.

But Audi or AudiPorsche RS2s ARGE (or joint venture whatever we want to call it) was developed during 1993/1996.

I don't think Porsche owned Audi back in that period if i remember the company (Porsche) was'nt so healty.........

Indeed. I have even seen claims that Audi in fact helped saving Porsche from bankruptcy by letting them develop and build the 2881 RS2's. On the assembly line that was used for the 959, no less. One legend taking over from another.

aRtiS, I think the easiest route is to find someone else in Latvia who has Audi-Porsche RS2 written in documents. In that way you could point out to their error in registration documents, and demand changing your car's documents to correct ones.

You could also try to go to some other registration center, it might help.
