There is a large step being taken by Sonic as we speak. I will discuss the new venture with him and get it rolling ASAP so that we can get collecting data on the situation as soon as possible and looking for solutions.

Sonic is setting up a web forum for parts, the idea will be to detail parts that are NLA, help people find them and also have the exidence to show people if we need to back our case up that Audi are neglecting their heritage.

I slept on this one, and pondered some more on it today... I too have the shell for for some words on the subject. I'll work on it tonight...

                    Hi guys.
This is not good for our cars, have just been reading about it, and i know that this doesent help but i have the same problem with my cossie.
After 10 years ford stop to produce new stuff for the older cars, cause they cant afford to keep producing it, so even tho there are many cars being sold for spares, it´s just not enough.
Ford even sold the moulds for cosworth blocks and body panels to get money in, and most off the moulds are binned, so the cosworth cars are living on borrowed time, end here we are talking about fords most popular newer racecar off all time.
So i hope you get enough out of this to help preserve this super car, it´s worth it

A really superb written piece there Andy (Much better than I could muster).

This parts issue is really coming to a head now. Owning a quattro I felt the problems start a while back, and my chats with Martin at Vagparts back then highlighted that the S2's would soon also feel the NLA onslaught.

Like you guys, it has both worried and p*****d me off no end. So much so that when I was looking for another car to use every day (The quat is now too precious for that) it made me think twice about going for a four ring machine.

So I'm going to stick with the quattro and battle on to try and keep that in good nick, but it's put the total kybosh on any thoughts of getting another S2, RS2 etc. And if that is the case Audi can go whistle! I refuse to buy another, especially a more modern one.

                      So I ended up going for what I feel is the closest thing to a modern quattro (well, sort of), with a good dose of rallying pedigree and a lot to thank the quattro for;

As Andy has mentioned ive knocked up a quick site for this.

I figure our chances of actually getting a result are better if we speak with 1 voice and focus our efforts in a clear direction. A little bit of organisation can go a long way...

... and on that note i give you http://www.audi-nla.com

Currently just a forum, but not bad for a few hours work. Ill be adding more stuff as and when, along with a few other users.

If anyone has any further ideas or content let me know.

Very well written piece Andy, I totally agree that the gentle pressure of media enlightenment and bad PR is the only way Audi will listen - if it threatens their bottom lines. I think another important point to make is that by us ready and willing and trying to make this epic failure by Audi public knowledge, we are indirectly prepared to potentially devalue our own cars to a certain extent, to get our point across.

Like the sound of what you and Sonic are working on - global unity is what is needed, and a website useful to every enthusiast is the only way to attempt to corral efforts IMHO.

For what its worth, i have writting to Audi to express my contempt, and will be penning something to the various motoring media too

Sonic, it's time for a new thread to announce your handiwork! We need a section for people's letters to press and Audi to keep a record

Anyone who wishes to write, do! The important thing is to deal with fact and not emotion.
