Well AFAIK there should be no hose on that. Can you take a picture of where it goes so we can have a look?

I will take a picture as soon as I go to the car again, at the moment I dont drive with it because of the glowing turbo and it is standing at my parents. Is it someone kind of pressure valve on the top of WG (i am really a rookie, dont know much of the turbo engines)

Well I reckon that shouldn't do that.

I think the end on the WG cap should go somewhere else. I have an ABY which is different but I'm sure this isn't right

Any 3b owners want to confirm this?

yep, agree, there should be nothing on the w/gate cap pipe

Ok thanks, I will remove this hose (maybe this is the cause of the problem), but first I have to know where it is going to. Can someone tell me what the function is of the niple on the wastegate. Does it blow air off.

IIRC it was used on 10v turbo engines to help the WG spring hold the wastegate shut. You can use it to test the wastegate diaphragm.

Can it do any harm on a 20v engine?

Without knowing what's it's connected to I cant say. Take it off anyway as it shouldn't be there. If the other end goes to a vacuum connection you'll need to block of the pipe or you have an air leak.

                        Hi Eric,
, This was an old trick used on early 5zyl turbo. Theyb used very strong
WG springs so ran high boost, so when u changed gears foot of throotle
created a vacuum in IM and hence throotle body, this would inturn lift
WG (waste gate) and reduce turbo spinning. If this wasn't there turbo
would overspin , become too hot, turn red and eventually destroy.
I strongly suspect car is modified( old school way). rolling road session is
a must to try and identify power band and hence know what kind of
                        tuning has taken place

Ok thx Ben , I will disconnected the hose. Do you have any idea if it can effect the running of the engine.

It could affect the running. Charlie has made a good point a coupl eof posts up though about old school tuning. If there is a stiffer WG spring being used it could potentially kill the turbo.

Do you have any info on whether it's been tuned or not?

When I bought the car the owner told me that it was chiped, but during the test ride I didnt found the car pretty quick. When I found the computer it wasnt mounted on any screws it was justhanging under the glovebox. I opened the metal layer but couldnt get the plates of eachother. I could see that the small hose that is coming into the computer ended in a small black box which was glued. So I think it has been opened. A day later I installed a boost gauge, I did a testdrive but the boost isnt going higer then 0,8 bar. So I thougth it wasnt chiped. It is all very confusing . Can this also be the reason the my turbo is glowing?. The car doesnt make strange noises of smokes.

                              thanks again

I can't claim to be an expert (and I don't want to tread on anyones toes) but I think a glowing turbo indicate very lean running. If a 'superchips' style chip is fitted then it probably only has different boost maps and stock fuel settings. This would cause lean running at high boost.

The black box in the ECU sounds like the MAP sensor. Maybe it has been changed for a higher pressure one to allow the ECU to read more boost.

It is fairly likely that the chip and the pipe on WG were fitted at the same time.

As for the lack of boost there are many things that could be causing it from an air leak to a dead turbo.

Can you pull the fault codes from the ECU with VAG-COM or the blink codes? These would be a good start as to where the problem might lie.
