I have been a member now for a few years and although I have never posted much, I do visit the site often, without logging in, to see what is going on. But today I want to share this with you all.
I now work overseas and went through a divorce in 2009. My 1993 ABY S2 has sat in my (or should I say Ex wife's) garage for the last two years without being touched, but, I flew back to the UK on Sunday with the need to move it quickly as at last we have sold the house and are moving on. I have had the car since 2003, wanted one for so long before that but never had the cash until I spotted this 1999 import from Jersey, in a local garage, for a real good price, and what an unloved state it looked to be in. But with only 53K on the clock I took the chance. Used it as my daily drive for a while with all the best intentions, but never got to give it all the TLC it really deserves and finally had to leave it SORN.
So to yesterday morning, turned up at the house to move it, of course battery was dead. Checked the Oil and water, Got her back down of the stands, Put on the jump leads, turned the key and it fired immediately. Little run up the short private road we have and brakes seemed fine, just in time for the local Audi dealer to come pick her up. I know the dealers sometimes get bad press on here, but I struggled to find anyone near by who was interested and Robinsons Audi in Lowestoft still have mechanics that know what an S2. In my own experience I can't fault them, and a big thankyou has to go to those guys
So to today, picked up the car after lunch, MOT, Service, couple of minor issues £150 paid, got the road tax and been driving it about East Anglia ever since.
People ask why I don't buy a brand new Astra or Focus, and OK I could easily afford one, but would it make me grin like this?
These cars are quality and I am so delighted that another fully standard S2 is now back on the road.
No she is not for sale!!!
