End of a very memorable era

    Hi,
I have been on this forum since the days when it was on Yahoo groups back in 2001 as S2 central. My kingfisher S2 coupe (Stu) has been a blinder of a car--doubt i'll ever have one as memorable or which gets me out of trouble as quickly. Where i live now the closest track is a 6.5 hr drive away and the law does nothing but catch motorists (There aint a great deal of other crime i suppose here). The car came with me from Middlesbrough in 2005 to Adelaide initially, then came the 1400 mile hike to Boyne Island in Queensland where i have settled with my Wife, had a son, got a dog and the S2 became impractical and just something to get me to and from work and as such became a waste of potential.

6 month ago i bought a fully loaded VW Touareg V6 Tdi "Individual" with air suspension, sat nav, reversing camera, powered open/close tailgate, 30gb Hd,, driver & passenger elec memory seats, DVD, sunroof, dynamic HID Bixenons, 6 disc multichanger, and the list goes on and on.
The Toe rag gets me down the beach, up some 4x4 paths and outback with the family in tow.
Other than my first car (Nova SR>>>Kevin) my Automotive history has been very predictable.
First my Audi Coupe 2.0E (GIL5203>>>Gilbert as we called him)
Next my VW Golf Driver (L826VWP>>>>Purple Ronnie)
Next my Audi S2 coupe (L377SUG>>>>Stu)
And now my Touareg Tdi (304RPS>>>>>Terry)

So all males and Audi>VW>Audi>VW---I'm predicting an Audi next--quite fancy the V10 RS6--so i'll keep terry for a few years then see where i stand.

This Forum has been a mine of information and i have made a favourites list of thousands of issues people have had over the years and categorised them from engine mech, engine elec, dash elec, interior, ice suspension, brakes etc etc, the new owner is a gentleman from Sydney who is an audi nut and plans to restore Stu to a mint condition with a little tweaking from 034motorsport. His name is Pat and he'll no doubt be on here at some point.

I'll remain a member and look in from time to time, thanks to all who have helped over the years with issues. Hope your cars become family heirlooms, like my S2 was, my S2 was the other person in our marriage and got a mention in the wedding vows as my wife had tough competition getting me away from Stu.

Take care and i'll see you round.

    Graham

Sounds like an epic journey, as rusty said hope you keep coming on here and look forward to reading about your next audi.

Dosent time fly, i can remember your tread when moving, and posting the photo in your avatar when the S2 arrived in the Aussie Sun. Hard to believe that was 6 years ago, must be hard to say goodbye to the S2 after following you to a new life in the other side of the world. As above dont be a stranger

Yahoo Groups, that takes me back a few years! I too remember you leaving for your journey with the S2 being shipped over to the other side of the world, amazing how time flies.

Good luck and tell Pat to drop by

Good to hear from you Graham! Amazing that there's still a few of us here from the mailing list days and proves that these cars are very satisfying to own and drive. Sad that your S2 is going but great to hear its going to a good home and things are going well with your life "down under", it seems a long time since we wished you luck on your journey to Oz.

How's tricks Graham?. Is it that long since you moved to Oz? Hell, seems like only a short while ago me, you, Graham, Mark and my bro had that going away knees up
Times change mate, I've sold the S2 (to be replaced with two Avants, one of which is mildly insane ), my bro's has gone and Mark's is up too.
Didn't realise you'd had an ankle biter either
I've dropped you a PM with my email address mate, as I'll likely have very limited forum time soon...............Allie is due in five weeks

                  Keep in touch matey,

I remember a drive to chester racing a 911 Carrera S on the A1>M1 Leeds Bypass. We would love to move back for family and friends but the lifestyle here is awesome, there is a 70,000 tradesman shortage in Queensland alone and wages are going ballistic. If there are any tradesmen (Fitters, turners, Boileys, Electricians, Diesel Fitters) who would like to live where crime is about non existant (My back door was locked last time last March) and want to earn $120,000 (70k pounds)just PM me and forward you details of how we done it. This area never had a GFC--expansions went ahead during GFC and wages still went up 4-7% during GFC.
I will stay in contact, the new owner will probably stay in contact with me and give me updates on the S2's future

Hello Graham, good to hear everything is going well for you over there.Where have the years gone?.

I can't remember if I told you about this or not but it was either the day before or day after I met up with you in adelaide back in '06 I was following an audi 80(which is a rare sight in oz) and for no apparent reason it just veered off the road and smashed into a pub

Ha, that was a long time ago as well, even Adelaide is a distant memory now. On the day the new owner came we took it for a blast--still put a smile on my face--went like a stabbed rat still strong and eager.
Hope the turn comes soon for the S2, being such a rare beast now, sooner or later they will get recognition as a collectors car.

Never got the chance to get it flat out like a lizard drinking, but it drove fair dinkum and down to sydney with no worries. it still flies about like a mad woman sh1ttin and i will miss it thats for sure.
Never mind though, the new car is loads faster on the outback tracks and on soft beaches and comfortably takes the family wherever i need to go withough the threat of ripping the underside out.
