S2 Avants, where have they gone?

A friend of mine is after an S2 avant, i told him it would be easy to buy one for his budget (the sale of his S4 avant B5) and that avants are even cheaper than coupes.

A few months passed and only a few surfaced on the web, looking on PH, ebay, AutoTrader, Car/classic ect.. one was the silver one for 7K (steep, but its gone) and the other was the green recently on ebay which he missed as it was sold quickly.
Im aware of the black one on here and he is on it, but what im whinging about is there seems to be 5 or 6 coupes for every avant - have too many been broken? The only one i can find is on here, and it looks like everyone and his dog is after it.

Just checked out the window, mine is on my drive too.

I think that yes, so many have been broken that they are a bit thin on the ground now. It's not like there were thousands of them to begin with in the first place.

Yes there was only ~315 ever in the UK
Many have been broken for parts.
Mine is still in use daily wiping the floor
With most cars on the road.

It could just be, the S2 Avant is the rarest car on our driveway... Now that really is a bombshell!

On UK roads that site says-
S2 avant- 99
RS2- 88
Coupe S2- 217

Its a lot easier to find Rs2s for sale though, maybe the high value keeps them on the market longer.

Well, maybe its just a now thing but the last few i have seen have sold for very strong money (assuming they sold) evidence of more demand than supply.

It happend quickly because i remember there being 3 or 4 a time on p/heads not long ago.

I expect it comes under coupe quattro, i realise this may include, B2, B3 B4 & 2.2 2.3 2.6 2.8 but there are only 124 combined on there.
