Yeah, lap times must have been naff. He was driving it like he was on a Forrest stage! Doh! Looked rubbish...

The Pug T16 was better! Am I the only one that didn't like the S1 on here? Not a good design for a rally car with that poor mass distribution. RS200 and 037 was more eye candy too.

in my opinion he wasnt bothered about lap times, he was there to have fun. and by the looks of things he had lots!

Im not sure if your the only 1 who dosnt like the S1.. I think its not the case of how good it is, but what doors it opened. without it we would not have a s2, or subarue or any other 4x4 (probably, who knows).

same as a wheel barrow.. looks crap, cant handle, but without it we would not have the invention of a wheel (im bored, someone help me)

Which bit was good about the vid? He certainly was showing how not to get good lap times!

Me, fan of Audis? Not really. Just a fan of good design i.e. an Engineer: S2 met my criteria like no other car but that doesn't mean I have to like every Audi that was made.

You cannot deny that the engine-way-out-front configuration of the Audi was a comprimise and when others followed the rule book Audi had to fight really hard to be competitive.

I agree with you Lee. The front engine mounted design is great for an everyday road car, but crap design for a rally monster

It's not very often you see someone arsing about in a S1.
Good lap times aren’t the only aim at a track. It’s like in my FWD yoof, wheel spinning whilst overtaking the likes of little Novas wasn’t the quickest way past them, but somehow seemed more amusing. Like drifting around sideways on a big open roundabout, appears to have no benefit to anyone. But the little boy in me just finds it a laugh.
I'm sure I heard a rumour that Audi built a mid-engined Group B car, but obviously didn't lose the plot like the other manufacturers. I think they saw no point in rallying a car that bore no resemblance to a model in their range. Even a company the Rover group had a chance of winning. Just get a Formula 1 team to build a car, then shove a Metro shell over it!
Bah! It’s all just marketing anyway!

LOL, thats a fair comment. It was an entertaining video, im tempted to do that at the next track meet, although i can see myself being black flagged for it!!

Yeah. You can see cars going fast round a track anyday of the week. But someone mucking about with a general lack of mechanical sympathy, not so often.

That'd probably be the best idea. You don't want to waste all the track time.
Just make sure i'm there to see it.

It's like when I watched the Dialynx sprint car going round Castle Combe, yeah i'm sure it was fast, but it just looked too boring to me.
