Last batch of Audi RS2 - 1996 ?

hi everyone,

I am new to S2 forum, believe you guys are real enthusiastic in Audi S2/RS2. I am a very new newbie to this car. Have been looking for a RS2 for years and recently I've got an RS2 offer where the condition is absolutely speechless to me. According to the doc its manufactured in 1996, however AFAIK RS2 was only manufactured in 1994 & 1995. Did RS2 really be manufactured in year 1996?

Yes, it was also sold in 1996 as 1996 models. ETKA lists 1994, 1995 and 1996 for RS2.

but the cars were built in 95. it´s only 93/94/95 when RS2 were built.

the year 96 in etka is only the model.

No RS2s were built in 1993. March 1994 was the first build month for 1994 Model Year RS2s/ . Aug 1994 was the first build month for 1995 Model Year RS2s and June 1995 was the first build month for the 1996 Model Year RS2s.

We know this in Canada because we can import an RS2 that is 15 years old to the month.

good on you that you can import it after 15yrs. In Hong Kong we can only import it after 20years which means if I buy it now I have to wait till 2014 or even 2015 for registration..

it is not entirely correct, Audi had one RS2 on the 1993 Motorshow at Earls Court, in London, so some models must have been build before 1994.

Checking the Stamp for the original spare wheel would help, my 96 ABY was a 95 model as per spare wheel but ofcourse all S2s ceased production end of 95 (I think)

How to read the data?

Here is some data

Did they do 1000 cars 1996, 3000 cars in 1995 and a 1000 in 1994? Or is one suppose to read 500 cars in 1996, 606 cars in 1995 and 924 cars in 1994? Either way I cant make the total numbers work with the official numbers. They where supposed to built 2200 cars in total but ended building 2891 cars due to demand according to Wikipedia.

My RS2 is a 1996 model. Until today I believed that they sold 500 cars as a 1996 model.

Wow. You certainly have magic eyes. I see the nose of a blue car in the background at 4:46 but there is no way that you can say its an RS2 since you can not see any badging or the avant body style. I don't know if you can even say its an Audi.

That said, yes, there were pre-production cars made. However, I *thought* we were talking production cars. Otherwise, it would be like setting your age based on the timing of your old Dad's twinkle in his eye and your Mum deciding, sure, time for an "early night".

If you add 924 from 1994 MY, 1606 from the 95 MY and 500 from the 96 MY you get 3030. So I suspect that there were less than 500 96 MY RS2s produced.

Yes, but it might be one of the prototypes or pre production models. Like this one from the brochure. The Gearknob is from a S2 and not a RS2. And in picture of the engine, the Powered by Porsche sign is glued on the intake manifold. Like the grill trim edge is blue on picture of the front of the RS2, which not was standard.
