    Much better take the NA engine from VW Rabbit, it is reasonably priced and port injected.
    And then you still need:
    * Pistons
    * Rods
    * Manifolds
    * Custom oil sump
    * Engine mounts

    At the very minimum...
    If using the ME7.1.1 ECU found on the VW I5 engine you will need the throttle body, senders and Bosch e-gas pedal.
    Alternatively standalone... then you need a throttle body too. Not sure how the gearbox will bolt to it either.

    The advantages are shorter engine, head that is 20 years ahead in breathing and design from the old engine (will do over 8k rpm stock), completely differently designed oil pump that does not have high rpm issues, and increased displacement right off the bat...
    If using stock ECU then ME7 is much sexier too If using standalone you already have factory 60-2 trigger.
    JP should look at doing a kit for us lesser mortals, to see if it was viable when factoring in all the other variables, as well as the monetary cost.

    Presumably would be silightly better on mpg also.

        If you can get engine with loom and ecu, then it is possible to reuse the ME7 ecu, but need to install the pedal as well.
        Depends what they want in money for it really.

        One way or the other it's at least 4k in parts.

          I have read a couple of threads on builds and as far as I am aware you need to change the crank on the N/A engine as they break, the TTRS has a stronger crank

            You just need to get one with a forged crank, some have a cast crank

              How exactly is the TTRS block dimensionally different?

                Cast crank blocks have been doing fine in FWD applications here in the states at @500whp... only failure I've heard of was on an AWD that was used heavily on the strip...

                And this was when it was "slow"
